I confirmed that the Foxboro Terminals (a great place to park next to Gillette) is also claiming to not let people in until 4 hours before show time.

Part of me belives that they will have no choice but to let people in or route 1 will be completey jammed with cars.

Thanks -Jim
thanks for the post and welcome!!!! I assure you, however, that they will not . . . just don't want you to be left driving around the beautiful Foxboro woods all day . . .

At this point, that's my intention!

Hey BOR, looks like we'll be needing that bottle of 160 proof absinthe afterall!!
After dealing with all this I may polish off that bottle alone tonight :o

But not to worry I have 2 bottles of it.

I might need a pull of that Pat! 3PM and the End Zone is now charging 60 per car . . . (if you don't have a room)[/size

That is crazy . . . might as well park next to the stadium to avoid the walk!!!!

Why do you have to be so popular Jimmy!

Good thing about Absinthe is if you don't get there until 3pm a few shots of that and you will be all caught up with everyone else who has been drinking all day ....

makes no sense to me...
This is a mess. This happened in Merriweather the last time Buffett was there. The lots didn't open 'til 5:00 pm. They should've opened 'em earlier to keep all the partiers in one place. Instead they were all over Columbia. In restaurant lots, office parks, malls. It's easier to control the crowds when everyone is in 1 place. But you know what ? We're going anyway & going to make the best of it.

Maybe hope for an early opening?!?

Post by jimm_3144 »

An article from 3/29/7 which reports on Foxboro's licensing of the Buffett shows seems to indicate that the intention is to limit parking lots to a 3:30 opening, but there is language that indicates that they may have to open earlier. Check out the 6th paragraph:

I have a friend that is on the town board for special events. Here is the policy he shared with me regarding the 9/2 show.

All Parking lots will open before the show. No lots will open any later than the start of the show. Stadium Lots will open after the other lots. Private lots will open based on size. Small lots open first. Medium lots will follow. Large lots open last, but not after the Stadium Lot. Should the concert be delayed for any reason, lot opening times will be adjusted in 30 minute increments. If you have been given an opening time by a private lot owner, know that we will be forcing them to change that time, even if it falls within the above outlined opening schedule. Any lot that attempts to open earlier than the designated time will slated for demolition immediately following the event. Any person(s) attempting to expedite lot openings by arriving early will have their vehicle confiscated and donated to toys for tots. We feel that this schedule will allow for a fun and pleasurable atmosphere and are confident that the policy will minimize incidents, including but not limited to, nudity, excessive drinking, over enthusiastic dancing, high-fives, dressing in outrageous clothing, or other unacceptable behavior. Enjoy the show.

What a drag....

Post by baz »

This is all really starting to become a drag......something we look forward to all year has become such a stressful event to plan........

The traffic jams they are going to cause waving people by is crazy (and the ones they'd cause if everyone tried to show at 4:00 is even worse).......

If Foxboro was that concerned they never should have approved the show......I'm sure Mansfield could have worked out another weekend as they have the past few weekends.......

The weather looks beautiful, but more and more the day is looking to start out as a -very- frustrating endeavor....... :-?

Since it's the Boston area, wouldn't that be the Jimmy Fund? :P

I also read the adenum to the above statement; "All alcohol must be consumed between the hours of 4:30pm and 7:00pm. The rate of consumption will not exceed 1 drink per hour. Violators will be fined $500, then hanged or shot, whichever is more convenient for our officers."

I didn't think of this until just a little while ago but while parrotheads are trying to get to Gillette another large group will be going to and coming from the PGA event at the TPC course in Norton just two exits down RTE 495 from the exit for route 1.

So by my math that adds another 15,000 to 20,000 people in cars to the madness. God help us if the golf tournament goes into a playoff.

The golf tournament ends on Monday not Sunday. It goes from Fri-Mon because of the holiday.

In 2003 Buffett played great Woods while the golf tourney was going right next door. There was zero problems with traffic. It was almost surreal how little traffic was affected.
