I recieved word from someone who chose to remain anonymous, that they will send out a seed to the show. That copy is en route to 7lords today, who will get the ball rolling with the rest of the vine (including traderphan.) :D
Questions that bother me so..... why anonymous?
How's the quality?
I have this show in wav format on a couple of discs. I would prefer to remain anonymous... And since it seems like no one else is going to offer up this show, I figured I could help out.

PS - I just sent this message to you because you are a moderator...
I don't know about the quality, but I'm not an audiophile. I'm just happy someone offered, and I should be able to get a copy! Since the vine has gotten big, and 7lords generously offered multiple copies, and I had his address, I figured he'd be a good place to start! :D

Why isn't the vine being done the traditional way?
Odds are because the person who is offering it isn't playing by the rules Image

It just AIN'T the parrothead way ..... plastic parrot maybe. [smilie=thumbdown.gif]

No, odds are, I have no problem making 30 copies this week so everyone gets them ASAP - vines can take a long time. I'm not asking for anything in return - I just want to get them out to people quickly. What I will do is send them to all 30 people currently on the list (31 with me). What I will then do is send the master to whoever becomes #32 on the list. With a list this long, it would be very easy for the list to die as well - I'm trying to prevent that.

No, the person who offered wasn't comfortable being identified as someone to seed a show, but wanted to help, and contacted a moderator to make it happen.

It's really no big deal... and it's people helping people, VERY MUCH the parrothead way!

Maybe she/he is an amatuer and doesn't want the embarrassment of an inferior product ?

Nah, wasn't comfortable because of the way it was obtained is the most likely scenario. Ashamed? possibly. Scheming to do it again? probably.

It is a big deal to the people who do the work to provide these jewels for us. There is a code of conduct, a code of honor among tapers. They respect each other's intellectual properties and each other's talents. To offer their work to others for free is the parrothead way, even when the music has nothing to do with parrotheads. They do this out of a love of what they do and the joy they get from sharing their talents. Taking someone elses work and sharing it without their permission is not just UNparrotheadlike, it's wrong and unethical.

Of course, we'll soon know if it is just another raw taping or a good quality mixed and engineered recording, then the truth will come out. Someone who does a good job on their recordings is usually very proud to associate their name with it.

It's a shame this person won't come out of their closet amongst their own friends.

You've jumped to a lot of conclusions, and are inferring negative implications, for no good reason. Please refrain from pointing fingers and judging when you have absolutely no basis to make them on. You don't know ANYTHING about the person.

And the only thing I know about the person is that they offered a copy of the show, that many many BNers were seeking, and with 7lords generosity on top of it, we should all REJOICE!

I am more inclined to side with NB here....why not just come forward and say that they recorded it.
Maybe they just went and downloaded it from the ftp site of the
guy that used to seed most of the vines here. Spooners recordings
tend to be much better than most of the ones that are circulating.
It is too bad that he was banned here or there would be a lot
less begging for seeds.

I do applaud Wade for taking this on and being willing to take care of every one one the list :D He is showing once again that he is
one of the nicest folks here.
It is unfortunate that more of the viners are not willing to
do even just a small bit more to keep these vines alive.
Way too many of the vines fail before they get very far along
because so many only care about it until they get their copy.

bittorrent

Post by fid00 »

If I can get this early I will send out a bit torrent of it for downloading purposes. I will need a copy of the show and source information (Sirus/web) how it came to be. I have done these for other bands and they tend to work very well so If anyone could help me out that would be great
