Sleepybear Thief
I just got back from a great week of buffett in indy and cincy. i did have a slighty bad incident and wanted to vent just a bit...i posted this in the "who's going" thread but i wanted to post this in the main room also........
just got home from an incredible week. sleepybear is all i thought it would be...except for one thing.
someone stole an ipod and a boombox from habourgirl and myself. if that person reads this board (and i hope he/she does not) you are a piece of trash!!!! buffett is about having fun with fellow parrotheads and helping each other out, being generous and kind...NOT ABOUT RIPPING SOMEBODY OFF. we left the ipod/boombox right outside of our tent door when we went to bed, never imagined someone would steal it while we slept 3 feet away.
you are a loser of monumental proportions.
can you guys believe a parrothead would do that? i don't want to think so.

I can believe it. Going to concerts always remind me how many people there DON'T get what Buffett's about, don't understand what the community is about.
I'd go so far to say the person that stole that stuff is probably one of the drunk college kids that shows up for the pre-party, can't name any JB lyrics (except a few excerpts from the Yellow Album), and get drunk and are obnoxious during the show. Those people clearly don't understand the point of JB and the community around it.

These moments we're left with, may we always remember, these moments are shared by few...

I'm sorry about the theft, but leaving something that expensive outside was risky. You might as well have put a sign on it saying, "hi! Take me!" I'm sure parrotheads weren't the only ones in that campground....but the sad truth is that there are dishonest people everywhere. Tough (and expensive) lesson to learn.

That's true, but I still feel bad for you Big R. You're a nice guy (and good at your job too, I might add) and it's just very unfortunate. Hopefully karma will bring you something good in the near future to make up for this bad luck!Brown Eyed Girl wrote:I'm sorry about the theft, but leaving something that expensive outside was risky. thanks trojan. in hindsight it was stupid to leave it out....but you never expect things like that to happen at a buffett show, at least i never did.trojan_sixtyone wrote:That's true, but I still feel bad for you Big R. Unfortunately, we've come to live in a world where you can't really trust anyone, even those you think you can count on. That's why the world NEEDS a Jimmy Buffett, and those like him--we need to be reminded that the human condition is not beyond repair and we can still enjoy our time on the world, no matter how screwed up it is.BigR-KyParrothead wrote:thanks trojan. in hindsight it was stupid to leave it out....but you never expect things like that to happen at a buffett show, at least i never did.trojan_sixtyone wrote:That's true, but I still feel bad for you Big R. Sadly, even some of us "Parrotheads" can ruin a good thing.

from Full Metal Jacket
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: [after discovering Private Pyle's unlocked footlocker] Jesus H Christ. Private Pyle, why is your footlocker unlocked?
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, I don't know, sir.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: Private Pyle, if there is one thing in this world that I hate, it is an unlocked footlocker! You know that don't you?
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, yes, sir.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: If it wasn't for dickheads like you, there wouldn't be any thievery in this world, would there?
Private Gomer Pyle: Sir, no, sir.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman: GET DOWN!
