How cool would a cd release of all-acoustic Jimmy be?

Thinking of the encores of Chicago and Alpine got me thinking about how much I'd enjoy a Mailboat release of acoustic recordings of Jimmy... Tonight I Just Need My Guitar... Stories We Could Tell... Banana Republics... etc, etc.

I could compile such a thing from concert recordings, or I could listen to some of the benefit show recordings, but I really think if Mailboat released a version, it would sell like hotcakes!

Always wanted to see Jimmy on VH1's Storytellers, I think CMT might have a show like that, too?

Totally cool with me as long as they are new and not live recordings.

It would be great!!! I would love to be able to see Jimmy in a small setting just a couple guitars and singing. Don't get me wrong love the good times and atmosphere from all the past concerts I've been lucky enough to get to enjoy, but straight up acoustic with a handful of people would be awesome...

It would be GREAT.
I'd be okay if he left "Tonight I Just Need My Guitar" off of it, however.

You mean one that was professionally recorded and sounded good of course because there are several live shows that are just him and his guitar available one of my favorites is his mom's bday at Lulu's

Exactly... a commercial release.

And as a matter of fact, I listened to Peets' b-day show again over the weekend!

Jimmy is hilarious in that one and my hero as well as he obviously is not happy with the way the kids are acting in the front. :D

Hey Tiki have you ever listened to his Lake Lanier, Ga show from 82?

No, I don't have that one. I take it I should seek it out?

I like it because it's old Jimmy and he's funny. It's not accoustic but it's good and the recording is good. I'll be happy to send you a copy if you don't want to find it yourself. Just PM me your address.

Agreed. Also, I think the "Storytellers" setting would be great. It's still shocking there isn't a "Behind the Music" or a "Biography" on Jimmy. I would be more excited about one of those shows than I would be just a new CD of all acoustic stuff.

I still wish he'd get Live By The Bay on DVD and do a 2 disc DVD set of a compilation of Margaritavision

oh and it'd also be cool if he'd do a CD of all the out takes and songs that haven't officially made it on a CD yet. That way we could get a professional mix/recording of them.

I think this is a great idea. I always love when he closes (or opens) shows with acustic numbers.

I remember during the Banana Wind tour in Raleigh, NC they had a small stage at the beginning of the lawn and they opened up with just Jimmy and Fingers playing "The Wino and I Know" and "Door Number Three."

It totally blew me away; just the two of them in the middle of the crowd. Set the tempo for a very energetic and enjoyable night.

I would certainly be in the market for such a recording if he ever releases it.

Excellent idea!! I listen to the Lulu and E Hampton concerts more than any others.

I'm torn tho, between live and studio....the quality of a studio one is appealing, but part of what I love about the accoustic shows is his interplay with the audience

...and I agree....it would be best with at least Mac joining him for backup, maybe a couple of others

Actually, I think he should do each...have several small live concerts for this purpose , as well as doing several studio albums. I say 'several' because, as i think of what i'd like included, it is far too many for one cd or concert....dont you think?

I think this is a whole new profit maker for him.......ya listenin, Mr Buffett??

Shall we offer some setlists for him??????

The best thing about Jimmy is HIS words and HIS music. To have a release of those songs done accoustically (with just a few band members) would be far more than totally cool!

And how about "Quitely Making Noise" for a title and one of the songs?

Call it "The Original Coral Reefer Band"
