...and some stink more than most :D :D

One of my personal favorite album (not just JB, but of all time) is Changes in Latitude..., but different albums from different eras are just that, different. I like the idea of listening to all, from start to finish, and I also agree that be careful about the early ones. There have been lots of "compilations" based on High Cumberland and Down To Eath. I own two of those comps and they're okay, but if you can get the originals, so much the better.

And yes, you will get all sorts of answers as what is best. Listen to all and choose for yourself.

(if it helps, my grandmother is from Glasgow! :D :D

Objection, your honor. The evidence has not been entered into the record.

im 21 yrs old from Scotland and only heard about him bout 1 yr ago. im really getting into his stuff and already have floridays, banana wind and liscnec to chill and songs you know by heart and captain america albums aswell as live in fenyway park and the hiwiai live album.

what other albums would people recomend here?
well, his cover album of "Scottish Folksongs" probably wasn't the best idea..
i disagree...i thought the bagpipes and steel drums were wonderfull togather
you got the one WITH bagpipes? I went the cheap route. I like Robot, but w'oot tha pipes... "Flower of Scotland" just didn't move me like it normally does.

Go to the buffettnews section where it lists all his albums in the order they were released. Then buy them in that same order, and then listen the hell out of each one in that order. Each one is great in their own way, and you really understand where Jimmy came from, where he has been, and where he is going. Through his music you can see how his life changed through the years. From the young Jimmy running away to Key West, drinking, doing drugs. To the Jimmy sailing away, trying to grow up ( but failing most of the time), to growing older, finally getting (and keeping) that special hula girl, having children and reflecting on the past and future at the same time. Its quite amazing actually, imo.

Just a suggestion. You can't go wrong any way you do. Just make sure to get them all

Fins Up!!!!!!
that is a great idea..
who came up with that?

I go with A1A. Just a straight collection of great songs, one after another.
