other add-ins could be grape/cherry tomatoes, celery, bits 'o broccoli, snap peas, jicama, zucchini, etc.
if you don't have issues with salt, hormel turkey pepperoni is a great add-in. it's super low in fat. the regular pepperoni is good, too, but it's higher in fat (but lower in sodium). i guess you can't have your cake and eat it too.

I don't use much salt.. the Jicama is a great Idea..

Santa.. we have one in the family.. My father called it "Out House Salad"
It has broccoli and cauliflower in it, and those stink when cooking.
Par boil the above veggies..
Add:
Cherry tomatoes
Spiral pasta
Italian dressing
dill weed
pepperoni
pimentos
cheese cubes/chunks
Chill overnight.

HMMM I used some Dill Dip mix for a Potato Salad I made over the weekend..
I wonder if that Spinich dip mixed in.......

see I love them and after a long time of experiementally things i found out that THEY were the problem.
I also found out later in life that pasta, bread and rice were a major enemy

oh and might I add by cutting out bread, pasta and rice from my normal eating I lost 30 + lbs
