I got mine in 1991 and renewed it in 2001. The trip to Anguilla back in March was the first time I ever used it, 16 years after I got it.

Nicole and mine is about 5 yrs old right now.. we got some time

one thing I gotta say is this

I don't feel sorry for those that waited til the last minute. I don't feel that the rules should have been changed to accomodate those that were lazy and waited.. screw them.. they should have lost the money they paid ahead of time. They knew the new rules in effect or I can tell you that these days all travel agencies/affiliates sent many fliers/emails/phone calls to tell these people, get your passport.

True ... according to the rest of the world ... though most of the people were free settlers ... however ... we mended our ways and have a lower crime rate than most western countries :P

No smiling in passport pictures - they want you to look like a total criminal  I had to take my glasses off so they could see my eyes - pretty stupid when my glasses are always on

However, 10 years later - I look younger in these pictures 8)

In Canada they are only good for 5 years.
When we got our first passport, we did all the paper work, drove to downtown London (half-hour) had everything approved and told to come back in 2 weeks. We did and they said to check it over. My husbands was spelled wrong. Within 10 minutes they had a brand new one made up.
Second was no problem and third was just time consuming. Waited about 1 hour in the office, but then they sent it to us via courier.
We go in Dec of 2008, so we have a little breathing room.

I applied for a job there at the first of this year. My job now is customer service in a bank and has been for 10 years. I have been to almost every Caribbean Island, Mexico a few times, Cuba a few times and all over the US. They told me I didn't have enough customer service experience and enough travel experience. Funny thing is that when the email came....I was in Cuba.
They did tell me if I was an ethnic minority or had a physical disability to re-apply.
Don't think that didn't p*** me off.
Feelin you pain pia!

I use mine every time I fly as my ID, even domestically. Seems to make it easier when checking in and through security. Everyting is standardized on a US passport so they know where to look, unlike a license that changes from state to state.
