Who said you had to read it? You should probably be drinking another Landshark instead of wasting your time in this thread, Jimmy needs the money.Migration Michelle wrote:I wouldn't exactly call this the "Ultimate" poll...its a little one-sided.
Why didn't you name the poll "What is the reason you don't like LandShark?"
Then, those of us who like it and choose to drink it would not have to waste our time reading this bashing thread.
what I really mean . . . I wish you were here

Margaritaville Tequila is not top dollar. Basically it's Cuervo.Denny R wrote:[
The same people ripping this probably drink other similar beers such as Tecate, Sol, Dos Equis, Modelo and numerous other "mexican" style beers. All basically have a similar taste imo. Me I happen to like these types of beers.
With respect, these ARE Mexican beers(not Mexican style;notice I omitted Corona :>) IMO,Landshark pales in comparison to these beers. That being said,A man's beer choice is a deeply personal experience. Lots of room for opinions there. I think the reason this issue(Landshark) evokes so much emotion is that it is symptomatic of a recent trend:Buffett shoving low grade products down your throat for top dollar. Example:Margaritaville tequila. I know some here like it,but I can't stomach it and it's not even real 100% agave tequila. It doesn't have to be this way;Sammy Hagar makes a damn good tequila. SAMMY HAGAR!!!!
Regards,
Body
And Jimmys is not shoving it down our throats or forcing people to buy it. If you like it you buy it. What's so wrong with that?
I tried Cabo Wabo at a Buffett show once but was kinda hammered I and can't remember how it tasted. I've been meaning to get around to buying some real soon.
Ya know I've been talking about my like for Landshark but have not had one in over a month or so. Lately I've been drinking a lot of Miller Chill and Smirnoff wine coolers. Yeah I'm fruity like that

I do not consider myself a beer elitist therefor I enjoy it . . . responsibly. It is cold and refreshing. It tastes like a corona to me and actually a bit better . . . I'd drink it more if it were cheaper.
The Parrot Dice Lounge kinda like a mirage. Here today and gone tomorrow. You should stop by and say hello when visiting Chicago on tour.

You're right, Larry. I did have another one. Mighty tasty!! Yum!!!!!!!!!!!!LIPH wrote:Who said you had to read it? As for the "Jimmy shoving products down our throats," what a incredibly ridiculous comment. Last I checked, we can purchase what we want.
And, Jimmy has a marketing team, etc. There are a lot of people in his organization that make decisions. It is crazy to think that he is purposely "shoving" bad, expensive things down our throats.
What's the matter....you can't decide what to put down your own throat?
Pretty simple...if you don't like it, don't buy it. I'm sure there is another business man out there who will take your money.

I just wished I lived in a state where you can buy beer in the grocery store.diesel tiki wrote:I know this is of topic but...Kroger grocery stores have a Salvadoran beer "Caguama" that is pretty damn tasty. It doesn't have the "skunky" smell like a freshly opened Corona and at $9 a 12 pack, seems to be a good deal.
Love in the library, quiet and cool.

Even not having tried it I mostly agree with your thoughts on this. I do think it goes a little deeper in that mostly people are diappointed that Jimmy continues to put his trademarks on crappy products and most parrotheads would expect him to have top notch stuff and they'd pay that top notch price. Parrotheads want to follow and honor their leader but when it comes to alcohol he is leading us down the wrong paths.sonofabeach wrote:Everybody has their own likes and dislikes and I happen like it.

I don't get the big deal about the $$ either. Seven whopping bucks for a six pack? What's that, a little over a buck a beer? That's gonna break the bank![]()
It's just beer anyway, how good is it supposed to be? I don't think I've ever had a beer that made me cream in my pants....p*ss in my pants? now that's a different story![]()
I think we should secretly replace Larry's beer at the Topless flocking with some Landshark and see what happens![]()
But then again I believe touching another man's beer is against "Man Law"

The problem here is that beer has many different types of consumers, and everyone has different likes and dislikes.
There are plenty of popular beers out there that I do not like. I myself love Guinness, but most of my friends and family can't stand the taste.
You have all kinds of camps when discussing beer. You have the domestic drinkers, but they typically break into at least two groups with Bud and Miller. Then you have the microbrew fans. You have your import lovers, which then break into different camps, including English and German beers. You have those that favor Mexican beers. You have your dark beer drinkers. And many of us fall into more than one category.
The point is, if you don't like LSL, that is fine, but there are plenty of us that do, so let us enjoy and it and we'll let you enjoy your beer. I myself appreciate the updates for where it has been popping up because I can't wait for it to either get close to me or actually land in my city so I can keep it continuously stocked.
Not sure why there is a need to put down a beer so bad. Can't we just live and let live?

I was at Migration in Vegas, weekend before last, and they were serving both Corona and LSL for $3/bottle. I decided to be fair and give LSL a try, despite the many disparaging comments in the forums. I had a Corona, then I had a LSL.
The Corona, for a pale Pilsner beer, isn't bad. It's got some character to it, but it's not my usual fare - I'm a microbrew sort. I'll drink it if there's nothing else around.
The LSL, by comparison, is pretty much without redeeming social values. It doesn't taste *bad*; it just...doesn't taste like anything. I fail to see why anyone thinks it's worth $9 per six pack. If you like something like Bud or Miller, then you'll like LSL. But you can get Bud and Miller for somewhat less than $9 per six pack, especially if you're buying 12- or 24-packs. LSL, at retail or served at a high-priced place like M'ville, is just plain overpriced for what you're getting.
That said...we don't all have to like the same beer. I agree with KY PRT HED about that. (Stout fella) OTOH, if I dislike a beer, I've got as much right to say I dislike it as someone else has to say they like it. For me, the big issue around LSL is "much ado about very little."
On the subject of tequila, I don't find any major taste differences between Cuervo and M'ville, but I won't drink either one straight. And as they're usually priced around the same, I'll buy whichever one's on sale when I need a "main shelf" mixing tequila. For the good stuff, I'm still experimenting...but I kinda like Patron, and I *love* Tarantula Azul.

Cuervo gold and Margaritaville are both blended and not pure 100% agave but the Lime flavord M'ville tastes great in a margarita as does teh Mango in a Mangorita. Cuervo does make a 100% agave, Tradicional and Familia. 1800 is no longer a Cuervo product but is 100% agave and I only like the Silver. I am not familiar with Tarantula except that they put out a pre-mixed thing that sells well to party goers. That doesn't make it any good though.TropicalTroubador wrote:On the subject of tequila, I don't find any major taste differences between Cuervo and M'ville, but I won't drink either one straight. If you like Patron silver, I highly recommend you compare it against Don Julio and Cabo Wabo. Then step in to the Milagro and once you've made those rounds start going with some single barrel anjeo's.

I agree with KY PRT HED - there certainly are plenty of people who like Landshark, and I saw plenty of them being consumed in the parking lots of the shows I've been to - meaning people brought them with them to drink. It's a lighter beer for a summer day, and it does its job well, IMHO. ![battingeyes [smilie=battingeyes.gif]](./images/smilies/battingeyes.gif)
