Favorite Jello Shot Recipe

Post by MrTwain »

We've never had or made jello shots, but we're hosting a party on Friday and I want to make some jello shots. I've noticed there are lots of recipes.

Do you like it just with vodka... rasberry vodka... malibu rum... what?

What kind of jello would you use?

I have no idea. What's the tastiest way in your opinion?

For 1 standard box of Jello...

1 box cherry jello
1 cup Coke
2/3 cup chilled Rum (any kind will do)
1/3 cup ice cold water

Boil coke. It doesn't really boil too well so just wait until its really hot. Stir jello powder into coke until jello is completely dissolved. Add rum and water and stir. Pour into shooter cups and chill until jello sets. Takes about 4 hours in the fridge (this I've tried) and 1 hour in the freezer(so I'm told, never tried it). I made these for a party we went to a few weeks ago and they were a huge hit.

Do yourself a favour and clear out a few good flat spots in the fridge before making the jello. Nothing worse than trying to balance a full tray of jello shots in one hand while trying to clear a spot in the fridge with the other.

Enjoy!!!
Dumb and drunk as I was, you know I would do it all again.

My absolute favorite shot recipe is based on a drink, the eroticolada.

Small box pina colada jello
1 cup boiling water
1 cup chilled Midori

Mix per box instructions, substituting the Midori for the cold water. Pour into 1 ounce cups and refrigerate until set.

Here are a few of the ones I have saved and tried.

Note: You do not have to have that much boiling water in the recipe. Use just enough to dissolve the jello powder, then add the remaining amount of (cold) water to the recipe to make the total. They will set up a lot faster.
One small box of jello makes approx. 16 shots in a 2 ounce size "shot" cup.

Margarita Jello Shots
6 ounces Lime Jello (large box)
16 ounces Water (boiling)
6 ounces Tequila
2 ounces Triple Sec
1 ounce Lime Juice
1 ounce Water (cold)
Mix the jello mix with the boiling water until the powder is fully dissolved and then add the rest of the water and the alcohol. Pour the mixture into either shot glasses or paper cups. Shot glasses are more attractive, but the paper cups are easier to eat from.

Margarita Shots
Lime Jello, large box or two small boxes
2 cups boiling water
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup Tequila
1/4 cup Triple Sec

Daiquiri Jello Shots
6 ounces Cherry or Strawberry Jello
16 ounces Water (boiling)
12 ounces Water (cold)
2 ounces Triple Sec
2 ounces Dark Rum
2 ounces Light Rum
Mix the jello mix with two cups (16 ounces) of boiling water until the powder is fully dissolved and then add the rest of the water and the alcohol.

Lemon Drop Jello Shots
6 ounces lemon jello (large box)
16 ounces Water (boiling)
8 ounces Water (cold)
8 ounces Vodka
Mix the jello mix with the boiling water until the powder is fully dissolved and then add the rest of the water and the alcohol. Pour the cooling mixture into either shot glasses or paper cups.

Rum and Coke Jello Shots
6 ounces Cherry Jello
8 ounces Cola (boiling)
8 ounces Cola (cold)
8 ounces White Rum
Mix the jello mix with the boiling cola until the powder is fully dissolved and then add the rest of the cola and the rum. At this point, you may wish to stir the mixture again until the bubbles begin to subside. Pour the mixture into either shot glasses or paper cups.

Irish Whiskey Sour Jello Shots
6 ounces Orange Jello (large box)
16 ounces Water (boiling)
12 ounces Water (cold)
4 ounces Irish Whiskey
Mix the jello mix with the boiling water until the powder is fully dissolved and then add the rest of the water and the alcohol.

Caribbean Blue Jello Shots
6 ounces Berry Blue Jello
16 ounces Water (boiling)
10 ounces Water (cold)
6 ounces Light Rum
Mix the jello mix with two cups (16 ounces) of boiling water until the powder is fully dissolved and then add the rest of the water and the alcohol.

Pina Colada Jell-O
Pineapple jello large box (4 cup size)
2 cup boiling water
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup Light Rum
1/2 cup Cream of Coconut
