Get on a plane with lots of fuel.....Fly SSW for about 3 1/2 hours (about 900 miles). It is on the 3rd large island out in the Aleutian Island Chain. The name of the island is Unalaska. If you map is somewhat acurate Dutch Harbor is shown on the NorthEast side of the island (Bering Sea Side). The island istself is larger than the Island of Hawaii, but only as about 25 miles of roads (mostly around Dutch Harbor).

No longer live here

We lived here while I was designing and building the seafood plant here. After we started it up, I continued on as the chief engineer for about 12 years. My wife taught science (jr. high and high school) at the local K-12. we moved away in 2000 when my job changed. I still come up 4 to 6 or so times a year and it is still home to us

. All of our keets were born elsewhere (because the local clinic is not able to handle newborns. They kick you off the island at the middle of the 3rd trimester), but consider it home as well......
About 3400 permenant residents (seafood plants have a transient work force, but during processing seasons total population is around 6000 to 7000)....

This time of year the twilight is around 1130 and sunup around 0500....Occasional cruise ships...NOT like in SE Alaska...not your tourist town, though you can find tshirts at a couple of stores...still a somewhat rough and tumble working town, though not the wild west show it was a mear 10 years ago.....Bring in a couple of miles of paved road, a grocery store and a gym and the women started showing up....sorta civilized the place....well...sorta.....
