Jimmy signed my Wrigley picture!

Thought I would share something cool. As some of you may know, Scubabarb & I were lucky enough to make the Jimmy Buffett Live at Wrigley DVD.

A couple of weeks ago, I came across a photo of us taken in front of Wrigley after the Monday show by Karin from Buffettnews. Though it's not the most flattering shot of either of us (especially since I've dropped 200 lbs. since then) I thought it would be neat to try to commemorate the show. I got a 8X10 printout of the photo and wrote a letter to Jimmy, explaining that I made the first song on the DVD with the Cubs jersey with HEADPARROT on the back. I also explained to him what an impact he has made on my life and all the friends I had made across the country as a result of my interest in him. Finally I explained that like him, I am a long-suffering Cubs fan and the opportunity to see him at Wrigley was a once in a life-time experience. I sent the photo and my letter with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Margaritaville in Key West.

I must have caught him at just the right time, because a short week and a half later, I got my envelope back and inside it was this:

It certainly made my day. I will get it framed and hang it with the rest of my Wrigley Field memorabilia.

Phins up!

Good deal Scott. And perfect timing when the picture was snapped, it says JIMMY BUFFETT & THE CORAL REEFERS on the Wrigley message board behind you.

Thanks all. Yeah it is a great photo, with JB and the Coral Reefers on the Historic Wrigley Marquee.

I wish I could photoshop in the new trimmer me, but every time I look at my old self, it provides me with motivation to keep doing what I'm doing. I remember how uncomfortable I felt that day and the walk to the bar after the show to meet up with the Chicago parrothead club damn near killed me. It's hard to believe that I recently ran a 10K without stopping or walking. It's been a fantastic year and a half!

I know just how you feel! A few months ago, we were mailing wedding invitations out...and I of course snuck one in addressed to Bubba himself. Low and behold, he actually responded, regretfully of course. It's now framed and one of my prized possessions...now, if only my wife understood :pirate:

Scott, What an incredible achievement. The weight loss that is. I always thought the before and after photos for advertising were BS. You have just proved they are not. You lost 200lbs in 18 months?? Was it all eat good and exercising?

Since you asked, I had gastric bypass (RNY to be exact) in March of 2006. I know that the procedure is controversial and it certainly is not for everybody, but I have no doubt that it saved my life. I no longer have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, sleep apnea. In fact, I am off all medications and feeling terrific.

By no means is the operation an easy fix, and people have died from complications from it. I never approach anybody about the surgery, but if anybody ever has any questions about it, I am more than happy to answer. My diet is 100 percent healthier these days and I am on the treadmill at least five days a week, logging in about 120 miles a month.

For those interested, here is my internet journal about life after the surgery:

It definately was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I had to pay for the procedure out of pocket, as my insurance wouldn't cover the procedure, but I would do it again in a heartbeat.
