Aren't you going to fly up (over) to Toronto on Sept. 5? You could land at the Island Airport, I think; it's still general aviation, as far as I know.

Post 9-11 stuff makes it just not worth it.
Way cheaper and faster to just drive there.
Toronto Island was cool, but all the advance permission and customs on both sides make it not worth the effort.
Closing Meigs in Chicago really sucked, and Daly used 9-11 as the excuse he always wanted.
Catch & Release lives near a great little field (Grand Haven, MI) . No hassle, and $1 dial-a-ride to the beach! Great Skim boarding, and if you get weathered in by storms the surf is amazing, allowing Longboardn' to be in his element!
Now we're on surfing! Pay attention!

So, are you going surfing with Jimmy? We see from another thread that he's playing in the waves at Montauk these days!

Only windsurfing and wake surfing around here.
Most of my longboardn' these days in the wintertime in FL, or on the blacktop here.

Jimmy's got the life!

" I fly, I sail, got a wife and three fine kids"
Yeah, but he gets to do more of it!

Longboardn,

I live 3 blocks from the beach and 2 blocks from the Kirby Grill/downtown.

Shoot me a pm if you ever want to grab a beer after a day of surfing if you aren't flying out the same day.

There's a very fun Salmon Festival in Grand Haven the 2nd or 3rd weekend of September but I am guessing the surf starts to get interesting once the wind really starts in October.

Sept & October are the best months in our part of the world. The weather's still good and there's no wait for tables at the restaurants in town.
I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.
Too much for me, too much for me
I've got to be where the wind and the water are free.

I'm too old for great lakes surfing.
aside from during storms, the waves only get good enough when the water temps are in the 30's and the air temps dip into the 20's.
Those guys are some dedicated dudes!
I'll snowboard in those conditions, but no amount of neoprene will keep me happy out there in the surf!
Give me Cocoa Beach in Dec, the tourists stay away, and the locals think it's too cold. I'll put on my long wet suit and have some of the nicest breaks to myself.
By Easter time, forget it. It's so crowded, my sons and I get hit by other's boards all the time.
Too bad us dentists married to teachers only get three weeks per school year to get down there and play.
Had I seen the potential in music world, I would never have hung up my guitar, or bass, or keyboard, or drum set.
Wait a minute- maybe it was for the better of the people of the world's ears.
At least I can have a positive effect on their teeth and gums, rather than a negative one on their ears.

Speaking of beach bums, my son says he has acheived his high-school ambition of being a beach bum and a ski bum when he grows up.

He works as a scuba instructor, assistant dive shop manager, underwater videographer, etc., in tropical locations, except when he's a snowboard or alpine or cross-country ski instructor in mountainous locations. His wife does the same things, except she's usually his boss. Seems like a nice life.

and we get to visit them sometimes!

Sounds like he's livin' the dream!
10 to one they have no keets!
(not that there's anything wrong with that.....)

no keets yet, but when they settle down in a few years (someplace tropical, I think) they may adopt some, so I hear.
My travelling and moving with keets has mainly been to France and back a few times, for long and short terms. Pretty calm stuff, and yet hard enough at times.

Jimmy does it all.
He's my hero.
I've never been impressed with the lives led by most celebrities.
Sure, John Travolta is a very accomplished pilot, and Tom Cruise flys a fully aerobatic plane, but they both have that Scientology thing going, along with other strange stories.
Most stars are pretty screwed up.
I've never heard anything about Jimmy's private life that detracts from his image as just a really good guy.

By the way, I heard that the BN rules state that if you start a thread, you're allowed to hijack it up to ten times a day.
Is that true?

I think there's a rule that you must hijack your own thread at least twice a day!

only if you are not the first one to hijack the thread.. for that, you need a professional.

Not defending either of those fruitcakes, or anyone else who feels a made-up religion (that has become cult-like) by a failed sci-fi writer is the basis for a life, but... I don't know that Jimmy in his 40s was the guy we hear about now. I'd bet a bit of image is just that, and I am willing to bet the therapist he talks about probably helped get him thru from the drinkin'/smokin'/etc. days to what he has become.

And those other two actors wouldn't have recognized the value of the therapist.
If Jimmy did over imbibe, at least he straightened himself out.
Let's see if those spoiled little girls wasting all that media space these days can accomplish the same.
