What are the different hotels around/close to the venue? Right now I've got reservations at the Doubletree, but are there close hotels that are cheaper. All I need is some place that is clean. I do not have to have 5 star service etc.
Any tips on how to get lower priced hotels?

sorry,
I'm not the best Orange County travel expert here, as I'm just traveling the 80 miles up from San Diego.
The Doubletree, I've heard, is a fine establishment, and as reasonable a stay
that you might find near the coast in SoCal.
In your searches online, know this:
Lake Forest/El Toro = most reasonable (and nearby the amphitheatre)
Irvine/Laguna Hills/Laguna Beach = more beautiful spots, but pricier
good luck!

What's traffic like in LA at 2PM on a Friday? Thinking about flying into LAX and renting a car to go to Irvine.

You'll be hitting the 405 at the afternoon rush hour. You will get to experience our wonderful traffic, 16 lane freeways, bumper to bumper!
But, if there are two of you you can ride the HOV lane. That is usually a little better. But you will still be 2 hours from Irvine. IMO you would be better offf flying into John Wayne (KSNA), it's only a few minutes from Irvine.
I'm going to be up near the venue today I'll check out the nearest hotels for you if you haven't booked one yet.

Now I have a new questions. Has anyone ever left an auto in the parking lot of Irvine\Verizon Meadows overnight?? Do the ticket, tow, or are they just thankfull you did not attempt to drive home??
Thanks,

In regard to the overnight thing....we have parked our bus overnight for the last two shows. I like to drink but refue to drink and drive. No one bothered us, and while we were the only RV in the lot, I did spot a dozen or so cars parked here and there the next morning being buzzed by the parking lot sweepers. I am not sure what they will do, but this is what they did last year.
We are at Buffett today in Boston!! Our 45' bus is parked between two commercial buses filled with Parrotheads and we are set for a great time!!

best value inn is probably cheaper than the other brands in the area of lake port / laguna hills/ irvine. it is also close to the venue. check out the various travel web sites for prices. this time around it seems that expedia has the cheaper prices.

Thanks for the info. I have now decided to go with plan C for getting the camera into the show. Going to have the hotel shuttle take me up about a hour before he takes my wife to the show. If I can't get the camera into the show he said he will take it back to the hotel for me when he drops my wife off at the show.
No Boob Job and no Tow Job.

Just a quick Heads Up. A few of my employees went to the Korn Concert at Verizon Wireless \ Irvine Meadows over the weekend and they said the Police were making everyone, in the parking lot, pour out their Beer, Wine, Etc. Also giving tickets to underage drinkers. Don’t know if they plan on doing the same at the Buffett Concert or not, but just thought I would pass along what I heard.

Dang. If they enforce that for the Buffett concert then so much for the best buffett tailgate in the country.

Just got off the phone with another one that was at the Korn show, and she thought it might have been due to the crowd. She also said the frisked everyone. No metal belt buckles, and no spikes.
I think the Buffett crowd is different than the Korn crowd, so hopefully the enforcement of the rules is based on the crowd.

I was in the Irvine area this weekend and found this hotel:
ORANGE COUNTY/IRVINE EAST
Candlewood Suites
3 SOUTH POINTE DR
LAKE FOREST, CA 92630
UNITED STATES
Hotel Reservations: 1 800 972 2576
Hotel Front Desk: 1-949-5989105
It is just about two minutes from the gates, and the best thing is that you don't need to get on the freeway! You would probably want to rent a car if you're going to stay at this place. It's too far to walk to the venue.
It's about 20 min.'s to Laguna Beach, about 30 to Huntington Beach. About 15 min.'s to Tia Juanas.

Thanks. How did it look from the outside?
How's the friday evening at the Brisa plans coming out, and How far is the Brisa's from the venue? Also how is LA traffic at friday noon? Still thinking about flying into LA versus OC due to flight schedules and price.

You guys aren't going to believe this, but I just scored a work trip Oct 1-5 in Newport Beach!! So I'm going to be traveling (most likely to LAX b/c I'll be able to get in earlier than John Wayne, and also LAX offers non-stop flights) on Saturday morning.
I'll be going out there by myself, so will be looking for people to meet up with and hopefully tailgate with. And if anyone is looking to unload a single ticket for the show, I don't have one yet so let me know!

My guess is they made them pour it out if they didn't have cups to put it in...they did the same last year at the Buffett show but were really nice about it. I've never heard a Korn song in my life, but I imagine the crowds are a wee bit different, as are the attitudes. The lots at Verizon clearly state no alcohol, I got many a laugh at the tailgate setups under the signs.

Just be smart and bring cups and it shouldn't be a problem.
BBQ...I've never had a problem with a camera. How big a camera are we talking? Is your wife bringing a purse? One of my tricks is to put my camera in one of those little purse packs of kleenex.

Also, women are rarely frisked like the men are, so down the front of the pants is always an option. I used to sneak bota bags into concerts that way back in the 80s. Of course the fact that I looked about 15 helped too.

Well it's official, I'm definitely coming to Irvine. I just booked my air to John Wayne/OC airport. So you local guys in California give me an update on the Las Brisa's get together on Friday evening, and what are the tailgate plans for Saturday?

The camera is a Nikon 8400, which is too big for the purse my wife is planning on taking to the show. At the Vegas show last year I put it in the bottom front pocket of some baggie shorts which I wore underneath my hula skirt. I got it into the show without any problems, so I think I am going to try that approach again.
Wish me luck.
