The La Quinta has had several events at it (Migration being 1). I've stayed there several times. Tia Juana's Mexican Bar is there along with Knollwood's which is good for breakfast in the morning. The only bad thing is that it's right next to the train tracks. :o If you drink more, you'll never hear 'em....

I would just hate to get there with one and be turned around.
Back in 91 - 94, I used to bring in my boat at the time, "Island Dancer" a 30' SeaRay cruiser on a wide load trailer, it was a great time and a hoot. We would put our anchor out in front after I unhooked the rig from my suburban and put a naked blow up doll waterskiing on the back in skis about 20' behind the boat. They did charge me $200 way back then because I took so many spots.

After I sold it for a bigger one in 1995, I then saw very big signs saying "No boat trailers, no boats, no trailers of any kind". Pretty much killed it and they enforce this now. I guess the boating revolution and trailers were not what they had in mind.

Hope this helps.

Hey SD Pirate!
You part of the SD club too?
That sounds awesome with the boat and "skiing goddess"... unfortunately they have cracked down in recent years. . . But still a good time. Just wish he'd do another Coors show. SD shows are so fun!!!! And somehow the parking lot is easier to navigate than Irvine.

Looking forward to a good (long-overdue) show!

I went to Verizon last night for the Dave Mathews concert. I haven't been since the last JB show a while back. Your best deal there for beer is probably the 24oz Corona for 12 bucks or you can spend 10 bucks for a 18oz coors light. They have added a pretty cool Corona/Pacifico bar there too. It was a pretty fun area last night. Can't wait for Saturday. The weather is a little funky here today but Saturday should be nice...fingers crossed

Interesting...I wonder if they will even sell Corona there tomorrow night?? So far the shows I have been to this year (Orlando & Chicago/Tinley Park), they only sold Landshark within the venue! I think if I remember correctly, in Chicago it was a 16oz Landshark for $10...

All of the beers you mentioned conflict with the new Landshark tour sponsorship. Corona/Pacifico don't jive with Landshark, and Coors isn't an Anheuser-Busch product (which Landshark is).

Maybe this also has something to do with why Jimmy isn't doing a show at Coors Amphitheater in SD?? :o Just a thought...

At any rate, I'm stoked about tomorrow night! I have my plane tickets, hotel reservation, and rental car reservation in hand! :D

Yes, we are part of the SDPHC, alas, we do zero club functions other than saying hello at the Coors show. Great people, but other than our yacht club, we are not much into clubs. I am so with you on Coors. It has been a great place to see Jimmy for all the reasons you say, and the bathroom situation & concessions are so much better than Irvine. Not sure if you were at the show with Jimmy flying the seaplane over the lot very low, highlight of all the Coors shows for me.

Stop by and say hello at Irvine. We are bringing two cars parked side by side.....white Bentley convertible with PIRET40 plates and a black escalade with FINS BUS plates. I will be with a really good looking blonde, my wife Heather.

We can not wait for the best show west of Boston (which we attended both shows in our bus two weeks ago).

Yep... kept trying to figure out a good show to travel to with dates that would work for us (part-time 9-5 type jobs AND professional photographers, merging to FT work for ourselves) and couldn't make it happen.

Then we finally had the SD show scheduled and my best friend from college decides to get married the same weekend at home in El Salvador!! My hubby went without me. Great trip for me too.... is it wrong I kept thinking about the show instead? I was so jealous! But he did say that it just wasn't the same without me. Teehee! javascript:emoticon(':-?')

Totally understand on the club thing... We'll look for you in the lot and say "HI" to our fellow SD pirates!

Actually, Jimmy flying the seaplane and tipping his wings is absolutely one of my very best show memories. It just makes me smile every time I think of it! Gotta love it!

The BBQ & festivities in the Irivne parking lot are going to be a blast hours before~hand! I have experienced Chula Vista, Hollywood Bowl & the Anaheim Honda Center (formerly the Pond) and none compare to Irvne tailgaters. Vegas has an exceptional street sceen but no tailgating.

We will have shrimp ka-bobs on our RED barbie n margaritas n red wine fer grandma. My kids have opted out this year... They have grown up on Buffett since they were so small and beggin to PLEASE CAN WE SIT DOWN NOW? The lawn has excellent sound in the semi- canyon and the view with the large screens make the parking lot traffic worth the wait!

The weather is here! We are expecting 69 degrees during the day tomorrow and some clouds and possibly down to 60 during the evening.

First Buffett concert Pacific Ampetheater Costa Mesa 1988 Hot Water Tour.

We try to make So Cal each year when we can... I thought I was the ultimate PH until I read posts from you people coming from all over the country!!! Can't wait to meet you in person! We will be in the Lime Green VW bug pref parking with PH stickers all over the back & side windows...

Check out www.puzzlepirates.com as an addtion to yer listing pleasure of Buffett Concerts. My pirate names are Ritamargavil, Parrotice and Debblunes. Send me a /tell if you be a pirate too!

Pre Tailgate Party?

My first post in the section I actually meant to post in, I hope...

Anyway, I'm heading up from La Jolla in the morning and am wondering if there are any pre tailgate parties and where. Staying a couple miles away from the venue.

Welcome Todd! The OC crew and others typically meet at Tia Juana's while waiting for the venue to open....it's next to a La Quinta. Let me see if I can find the addy for you...

ok, it's 14988 Sand Canyon in Irvine. It's right off the 5. http://www.tiajuanas.com/map.html

IIRC, you'll spot Knollwoods and the La Quinta first, follow that road back to Tia Juana's. Or just look for the crazy parrotheads. have a great time!

Thanks for the address, I was going to cross the border and start looking for Parrotheads.

I'll look for everyone there.
