Good girl. Good girl.
Go lay down.
Good girl.
If dogs lived twice as long, and humans lived half as long, it still would not be enough time.
I am sorry, Troy.

That's one of the hardest things a person ever has to do in their life, and knowing you're doing the right thing doesn't make it any easier or hurt any less. I hope in time the pain goes away and is replaced by the happiness and warmth of the memories of all the time you two spent together.
Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.

(((Troy)))
I have been there several times, all of which are very
hard, and I'm sure I will be facing it with Daisey in the
coming years. Know that the memories you've shared
with Sable will never be forgotten and that you did a
wonderful thing opening your heart to her.
I still remember when the vet had to put my first
St. Bernard, Gracie, to sleep. She was in terrible
pain but made a point to really enjoy her final ride
to the vet, walked around to say "goodbye" to the
vet techs before putting her head in my lap as if to say
"okay, I'm ready". Although tears are coming to my
eyes as I write this, I know that you were as blessed
with Sable as I was with Gracie. You are in our thoughts.
Someday you will both be together again.

This may or may not make you feel better....my dad was a huge huge dog lover. The roll around on the floor with a strange dog kind of dog lover. He died suddenly at the age of 54. I believe that heaven is different for everyone. And in his heaven there are tons of dogs that have had to leave their owners too soon. All I can tell you is that if there is a heaven, my dad is rolling around playing with your Sable until you get there.
My lil Bimini is only 7 months old and I cry at the thought of losing him someday. I have to stop myself and remember that I have him now and I need to cherish every single moment.
