It helps if you have a friend in the band or a contact with one of the corporate sponsors.

Well I will get to work on that then.

maybe I'll send a fruit basket to my local landshark distributer.

Unless anyone happens to have Utley's number, or Mac's, or Doyle's, or Pete or Jim's ...etc. that they wouldn't mind passing on. :D

How does one achieve such high honors in life? (Really I am not joking and want to know.)

I can't speak for Larry, but I'm guessing it's one of those 'it's not what you know, but who you know,' in general. From those that have been backstage at a concert, they've either won concerts (dawgfan, mermaidindisguise, etc.) or know someone in the band (ie. Heather Dee Perry and Larry are friends). I'm sure that if you're a bigwig for Anheiser-Busch (sp?) or Corona (pre-2007), or the venue, you can probably make the connections to get back there.

Tonight I just need my guitar

not even all the distributors get the real backstage passes. I've seen some people turned away thinking they had the pass to get to the JB hospitality area only to find out there was a separate area for the distributors. But, like everyone says, there's no procedure... It's who ya know.... And I mean, it's fun and all, free stuff, but I find the parking lot is in PRIME form at that time and it's usually more fun out there. But it's definitely a nice experience!

corona used to have a pre-show party, and jimmy has a pre-show party which the band and staff can invite guests. pre-show meet and greets are very limited and by invitation only. during the show backstage is pretty much off limits. after the show jimmy is usually at the airport before you're out of the parking lot and wheels up before you're on the road home.

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

Like jb10 said, I got to be pretty good friends with Heather when she was in the band and that's how I got my passes.
