I know, I Know, But Parking $40 at Gillette??

Post by ClevelandMark »

I know I shouldn't be that picky, but between tickets, travel, (depending upon where you are coming from), and every other cost that is associated with a show, can you believe they want $40 for a car, and $100+ for an RV?! As a wise man once said "You must be crazy!"......
Really, I am not a cheap person. I have spent big bucks in the past and have enjoyed every minute, but I went to the show in Orlando in Feb and it was no where near $40 for a car....I wasn't that loaded......
Sorry for blowing off steam, and even though I am not going, I still think some of the costs associated with attending a show are a little out of whack.....but of course that won't stop me from seeing 'The Man' in the future...oh well....

If you think $40 is high consider that there is a private lot just down route 1 from the stadium charging $60 for cars.

There are actually places near Fenway Park that charge as high as $90 for parking for redsox games.

The large parking fee was the last straw for me. For the second time in 28 years I will not be attending a Buffett concert, the first time by choice. I know there are good "business" reasons why Buffett has moved from Great Woods, but I can't support another venue when Great Woods is the best place in the country to see him for sound, parking lot, convienience, support staff knowing whats going on etc. Very disappointing.

well put!

My first thought when I heard Jimmy was doing Gillette was that he wanted to do a big Labor Day show and with the high concentration of Parrot Heads out in New England the Stadium made sense - outdoors, tons of parking, near two major highways, lots of hotels in neighboring towns . . . I loved the idea! Loved it!

I have been a season ticket holder to the Patriots for years and tailgating at Gillette is a pleasure . . . really. I usually hit the main lot or Outlaw BBQ. For 1PM games we get there by 8:30 and there is never a problem with police or anything . . . getting out is a little tough but so is anywhere (including Great Woods) . . .

BUT now it seems that there was a complete lack of planning by the town of Foxboro and all those included with construction and other issues form prior concerts and the Parrot Heads are, for lacking a better word, screwed.

Great Woods 2008! Don't be late!
the hit and run is as good as any religion around this time of year . . .

I never take a bus to a Buffett show.
I prefer to control my own tailgate party...we caravan a bunch of cars over.
At those prices....I'll take a bus!

Being a native New Englander I'm conditioned to outrageous parking fees (don't like them, but have come to expect them) so the $40 isn't that upsetting to me. I don't like the fact the parking lots are spread out over close to 1 1/2 miles--from the End Zone to the South to Foxboro terminals to the North. This effectively eliminates the best part of the day-- strolling the parking lot to see all the things there are to see at a Buffett tailgate.

We also set up a bar and give away roughly 5 gallons of mararitas and 50 lbs of beads every year. This may be a challenge this year too.

I'm trying to remain optomistic (it is a Buffett show afterall!) but it's hard.
Indecision may or may not be my problem....

we will have no choice but to tailgate post show it takes 1 1/2 on a football day to get out, and that is with most people knowing when and where to exit this will take longer FYI i have parked next to p10 for pats games and when exiting they, at times, give you no choice but to go north on route one, no right out of th elot for south take a map in case they send you the direction you do not want to go usually staties directing and they do not take kindly to asking for directions

A friend of mine went with a group of people on a bus to the Kenney Chesney show back in July. He expected to tailgate after as well, however the state police ordered the buses to leave first to get them out of the way. a group in another bus next to my friend's had several people arrested for refusing the police order to leave.
