I've been to France, there wasn't any whining. I could tell, even though I don't speak French, because I didn't hear a Boston accent the whole time I was there.

There was a lot of talk about the $50 fee that Minute Maid Park was charging in Houston for the Buffett show - and they didn't allow tailgating after the show either.

We figured that the cost includes what they have to pay their clean up crews to come in and clean up the massive mess that the tailgaters leave behind after the show.

The best organized grounds crew I've ever seen was at Frisco where they had folks on golf carts continuously cruising the lots changing the trash bags, etc...

I don't blame the Venue's for charging what they do...some people clean up their mess, other's don't. It's just something that comes along with a Buffett show.

As BB said, quit whining and have FUN!

I guess I look at the cost of parking and cleaning as part of the cost of doing business. If your stadium is downtown (where land is scarce), then supply and demand drive the price upward. (Tho $10-$20 for "event parking" in a structure that doesn't see a lot of use after 5p...)

If your stadium is in the middle of nowhere, surrounded with parking, then it is a bit harder to justify the additional charge. Tickets cost x, of which Jimmy and the band get some percentage of x, call it b. The remainder (x-b) is what you as the facility owner takes in, and from that is what you pay your people on the facilities side. Not enough? raise your prices. But the additional ticket fee on top of the ticket price seems like a double bite of the apple. (and if you cannot operate a facility profitably on ticket revenue and concessions like $8 beers... perhaps you need to get into a different line of work)

Who gives a sh*t about the money to park? The s***-ass part of this is the lots not opening until 3:30 PM? Especially, when our normal venue is like 10 feet away and they let us in at 8:00 AM!!!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know there are good "business" reasons why Buffett has moved from Great Woods, but I can't support another venue when Great Woods is the best place in the country to see him for sound, parking lot, convienience, support staff knowing whats going on etc. Very disappointing.
My wife and I feel much the way you do regarding the "passing" of Jimmy's annual Great Woods shows. For years we made the trek from Long Island to Boston, as well as attending many of his Jones Beach shows.

We'll be going in a couple of weeks to see him at the Garden, but if this arena/stadium touring persists, this show in a few weeks will likely be our last.

Look...nothing lasts forever...and now that Jimmy's 60+, I expect the end is closer than we all would like to think.

This is shapping up to be a quite the upbeat weekend. I haven't seen New England this depresed since 1986. If we're lucky it will rain and we'll have something else to b**** about.

Go Sox!

thats my point too. ill be happy paying $40 if i can tailgate a lot earlier than 3:30pm. as everyone has said though, i am sure that the lots will be open much earlier due to the demand.

The 3:30 "rule" is coming from the Mass State Police in response to the traffic disaster caused by the country concert in July

I highly doubt they will bend

And they are a rather humorless bunch. Testing them in any way could get ugly folks

I can see where the late opening for the lots will cut down on the "uncontrolled partying" mentioned in another thread, but I'm thinking that instead of avoiding a "traffic disaster" the late opening of the lots is going to create one of Titanic proportions.

Don't like it...don't go.

Or set up your own party in another lot somewhere else.
