I'd love to hike and camp the Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali coast of Kauai.
I found this video on youtube of some friends hiking it

What a dream that would be!

In 2008, we hiked the trail just past the 2 mile beach. It was absolutely beautiful. We hope to do it again when we go back to Kauai for a 4th time in 2011...

I knew I could find information I needed here. Here's another question.....do you rent cars on any of the islands? Or is transportation?

Try http://discounthawaiicarrental.com/ . . . . . I have been told that they are really good. You'll need one fer sure on Kauai, if you want to see all the sights (and sites.)
(I have a National Emerald Club membership thru work, so I haven't actually used them myself . . .)

Here's a good link on renting cars in Kauai . . . http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g2 ... awaii.html

The best hotel to stay at where you can actually safely swim in the ocean is the MArriott...... although I dont think it would be $150 a night.

Loved it there though, and did the ziplining too which was AWESOME!!!!

Just got home from the Big Island. This is a great place to stay!

http://www.honukai.com/

We had a wonderful time there.

We stayed at the Hilton Waikoloa Village during Tom's meeting. Good Lord! That place is huge :o The have trams and boats to get around. Kinda a Disneyland place. Fake waterfalls, fake beach, etc. Lovely gardens and artwork though.

I was so excited while watching the whales and they were actually too close to get good pictures. Hopefully some of Tom's videos did better. We had a whale actually swim under our boat. :o

The whales off the coast of the Big Island were everywhere. You could see them from the car while driving along the highway.

I actually have a time share on Kauai & love it there. We always go for 2 weeks so we do Kauai & another island -last trip was the Big Island- very strange as you drive around -it looks like your are on the moon with all the lava. We enjoyed our stay on the island, but give me Kauai any day -it is such a beautiful & relaxing island!!!
