All right, I'm going to get crucified for this, but MMIM I wouldn't recommend for the sole reason alone of how he f***s up the words in "Pascagula Run" I mean, c'mon you couldn't find a version where you got the words right??

For live albums, "You Had to Be There" is classic, I would get that and one of his most recent (He's released a bunch of different venues from the same tour a couple of years ago) As for studio, so many have such a different feel as he grew as an artist, so the nature of them are different. That being said, "Changes in Latitude" is one of my top five albums of all time by anybody. This doesn't dismiss his other stuff; this just means if I'm getting sent to a desert island, that would be on eof my first choices for musical entertainment.

many many very bright accurate and insightful people posting before me have had many very good ideas
i would choose Banana Wind and Live in Hawaii
it will provide a good mix of the whole live experience as well and the range of what is available

wow.. thanx again all & you all obviously love Jimmy. Bruce S is my favorite but I am trying to expand as mentioned. I was just in the Marg-Cafe in Myrtle Beach a week ago. My Mom lives there so i visit w/my kids & wife 1x a year. Love it down there
I'm def. taking the advice on the Meet Me CD. Still on the fence regarding a live CD. Like to get a somewhat current one, but the Fenway Park one may kill me... lol See my username, I am a fanatic Yanks fan & bleed blue since the mid-60's

Then you'll love the Fenway DVD...especially where Jimmy exercises "the Curse" by bringing out a Tali man (sp?) and The Bambino. A little over a month later, the Sox won it all. It's classic, must see TV!!!
Just kiddin...couldn't resist as a Red Sox fan. The Fenway CD/DVD is good, but get the Wrigley one if you can't stand to watch the Fenway show. His music is awesome, but seeing him live will hook you for life, so if you can swing it, get one of the live shows with a DVD, or better yet, go to a show

By the way, welcome!!!

If you want to wait (maybe a long time if Mailboat's involved), you might want to get the Live in Anguilla CD with DVD that's supposed to be coming out in November....

Meet Me In Margaritaville is probably the best compilation there is, although I am also partial to the Box Set: Beaches, Boats, Bars, Ballads. As far as live discs go my favs are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Live from Mansfield, and Feeding Frenzy. Hope this helps...

I have Sirius now listening to the live Toronto concert. But it just dawned on me that it's Wed nite... what gives? Thought he had a live concert CD titles Tues-Thurs & Sat. Guess there goes that theory... lol
This is my first listen to live Jimmy... so we'll see how this concert goes. Also of course i have Yanks game on at same time on local TV (we're losing 2-1.. urgh!). Real glad I found this site... you all are great!

He should be coming to Jones Beach next year. Great place to see him and a great place to tailgate and meet fellow BNers!

unfort. Sirius had to pull the plug on the Toronto concert after 30 minutes or so... live feed was spotty at best. But at least my Yanks turned it on & beat Seatlle 9-2 after being down 2-1 going into 7th inning. Sirius replayed a Chicago concert but that didn't overly excite me aftre the live Toronto concert was pulled. Oh well, looking forward to the few Cds most of you seem to be recommending. Thanks again & cheers everyone!

The remakes and live songs on Meet Me In Margaritaville are the only things that keep it from perfection imo.
I'd suggest
Boat Beaches Bars & Ballads
Changes In Latitudes Changes in Attitudes
Floridays
Barometer Soup
Feeding Frenzy is still my favorite live one. Love the energy on that one.
so many good ones, it's hard to go wrong...............

I live on what we like to call the "Connecticut cut-off". Halfway between both cities, it's a 50-50 split of fans up here. Makes for great fun this time of year.

amazon.com is the best place to stock up on Buffett. They've been selling most of his older material $10 or less, plus most of his material is part of their 4-for-3 promotion. You could easily score Changes in Latitudes, Havana Daydreamin', Son of a Sailor, and Coconut Telegraph (4 of my faves, at least!!) for about $24. Not bad...not bad at all!!
