Cheerwine Charly wrote:amazon.com is the best place to stock up on Buffett. They've been selling most of his older material $10 or less, plus most of his material is part of their 4-for-3 promotion. You could easily score Changes in Latitudes, Havana Daydreamin', Son of a Sailor, and Coconut Telegraph (4 of my faves, at least!!) for about $24. Not bad...not bad at all!!
Overstock.com too

You might as well get the boxed set now. You'll buy it anyway in about six months. I rarely listen to anything other than the "Boats" cd. :D

thx for suggestions on overstock.com & amazon.... still toying w/what live CD to start with to go along with the Meet Me CD which everyone seems to recommend as a good start (I don't want to go crazy yet)

also, Mrs. was right on board w/Yankee theme family room.. She loves them also and said what the hey, you might as well get 1 of the 8 rooms to your liking...lol Room also has a football Giants section (my other big team), and a music and D-cast cars section. Music section has some framed Album covers that are near & dear to me. incl. Bruce, Led Zep, F-Mac, Beatles, Aerosmith & Kiss... yes Kiss, one of the best & most fun concerts I have ever been at back in College in late 70's.

yes PC Jack... but correction, that would be the GGGGGGG-Men

we're hoping for a surprise this year, I go to 4-5 of the home games each year and it's a fun event similar to a great concert. Definitely a good outlet. Sports is my 1st love followed by Music & then sports cars. I have owned a '79 Vette for past 10 years

Well, since you have Sirius, why not record one of his Bama Breeze tour stops. You can output the audio from Sirius to a receiver and record it. I have my Sirius running to my receiver. Then, have the receiver's digital output going to my computer's (a Mac Mini) digital input. This way I am getting a great digital recording. I use a free program called Audacity -- it's very easy to use. I realize you might not have the digital capability that I have, but you could still set it up to record to a computer, tape deck, etc.

thanx P-Jack... I hear you & probably will record one of the upcoming concerts. I have the Sirius home unit that is hooked up to one of our receivers in the house. I use the Sirius both in the car & at home. I was going to record last nite's GA. concert but went out for the nite. Also scored 2 Bruce tix this weekend for one of the Phila shows so i'm psyched about that. He's my #1 but as mentioned earlier in this thread, i'm trying to branch out and enjoy others including JB who seems like a lot of fun.

I just joined this site, being a newbie to the concert scene! I've always liked Jimmy's music but after listening to Radio Margaritaville on my Sirius radio and a visit to Magaritaville in Orlando this past Feb., I was hooked. Hubby and I went to our first JB concert in June at the Tweeter Center in Camden. Found tickets on eBay (yeah, I know it was risk) but they were real and the seats were great!

I've been following this thread for music suggestions and MMIM just arrived ready to be unpacked.

As soon as I find a picture to post of myself that doesn't make me look like the aging boomer that I am (sigh), I'll post again. What a fun place! My 14 year old son doesn't understand.

Oh, by the way... Yankee and Red Sox fans, I'm a Mets fan and I went to game 7 of the '86 World Series! :D

Welcome to BN! I just started paying attention to Jimmy's music this summer thanks to Sirius, and I just started my Buffett CD collection. I started off with Meet Me In Margaritaville, A1A, and Take the Weather With you. I love them all.

Thanks! Been a fan for about 15 years but didn't go to my first concert until last year (Great Woods/Tweeter Center). I/we are absolutely hooked! First three in my collection were, in order, SYKBH, Feeding Frenzy and Fruitcakes. I still love the sound and energy of FF - much more of a concert feel as you can really hear the crowd well. I now have several other live albums and the crowd is much less vocal in those.
Cheers!

Jimmy appearing at Jones Beach next year? Oh, I hope so! I love that theater... went to shows there as a kid (musicals, the stage rotated, very cool for an 8 year old). Love concerts there... the breeze, the salt air, great place but the upper levels are very steep!

So, what's the secret to getting tickets without having to resort to eBay? Camp out at the box office? Camp out in front of the computer? Knowing people in high places?
