Wow! Thank you all so much! Everyone here at Buffett News has been so welcoming! I really appreciate all the thought you are putting into this and the sharing of your personal experiences.

Here is the latest.
Mac and I recorded demos of three songs while we were in Alabama.
They are:

1. Wonder Why We Ever Go Home
2. Son of a Son of a Sailor (duet w/Jimmy)
3. Why you Wanna Hurt My Heart ( by Art Neville).

In my humble opinion, they came out great! How lucky am I to have a Song Writers Hall of Fame inductee who is nominated for Musician of the Year producing my CD?

I left the studio with a new confidence and a real sense that I can truly do this! Any singer can sing a song but it is important to me that I present these songs in a way that (a) honors Jimmy as a songwriter (b) allows me to be me, and (c) doesn't p*** off his fans

If you saw Tiki Bar's post in which she was nice enough to put your suggestions in order by popular vote, you know I have to do Pirate Looks at 40/Redemption Song and Creola! Believe it or not, you also have me seriously considering Somewhere Over the Rainbow! Cindi, of the Balcony Girls reminded me about another song and when I mentioned it to Mac he told me that Jimmy wrote it with me in mind, so I'm definitely doing "Callaloo".

I can't reveal everything. A girl has to have a little mystery about herself, but I will share one other thing today. Jimmy suggested I check out Mac's very first album "Crazy World" which he released at the tender age of 19. Mac just happened to have one lying around the studio and gave me a copy. If you're not familiar with the album may I say that it is definitely worth listening to. The very first song Mac ever wrote is on there. It's a special collection from the heart and soul of an innocent young country boy from Mississippi. I find it be beautiful, heartfelt and pure. I'm glad Jimmy brought it to my attention (that's why he gets the big bucks). I've already got my heart set on one of the songs and I'm thinking about a 2nd one.

Mermaid in Disguise mentioned trying out some songs at Meeting of the Minds unfortunately I won't be able to go this year. It is however, a fantastic idea that I am going to be brave and run with. We have decided to debut a few of the songs live at Margaritaville in Las Vegas on Friday October 26. It's the Friday before Jimmy's 2nd show at the MGM Grand. I hope at least some of you can "Meet me at Margaritaville.

That's all for now, thanks again for being so welcoming and for participating in my journey. I will check in with you again soon and keep you in the loop.

You go, girl. We're all so excited.

Great choices so far. Am glad to see the Aaron Neville in the mix. Saw him for years at Tipitina's before anyone ever heard of him *or* his brothers.

Keeping my phins and pheathers crossed for "Creola."

Keep us posted.

Why Ya Wanna Hurt My Heart!!

Perfect. That's from my favorite album--One Particular Harbour and I didn't even think of that one.

I was thinking Middle of the Night and Money Back Guarantee that Jimmy did with the Nevilles. :)

Thanks for sharing with us. :) :) I'm loving seeing your choices and the choices of other parrotheads.

I'll have to go check out what's on Crazy World, but if the song you are doing is It's A Crazy World, that would be excellent.

I saw the show in Houston whe Mac and Jimmy did that song and then again in Austin at the Kinky show. When I heard it in Austin, I had to go and look it up. Wonderful song.

Yep. 1977. It includes "It's A Crazy World" and the first song Mac wrote, "People Call Me Jesus."

Wow! Can't wait to hear all of them but Wonder Why We Ever Go Home stands out!

I said Crazy World was the title of Mac's first CD. Thanks for making that correction of course it's simply "Mac McAnally" and I'm probably the last to hear it.

Can't wait to hear what other song(s) from that album might have caught your ear, and hope they make it to your CD. :D :D
