I didn't even know about it, to be honest. Sounds like it will be a good opportunity for the Tech community to bond and generate positive energy.

Have they ever HAD a concert at Lane Stadium before?

I'd sure go if I could.
Kudos to everyone who IS going and I hope the spirit of this thing is around forever, just as it will be for the people the event is honoring.

I do not think they have ever allowed a concert in the stadium.

I knew Phil's father. He had a band many moons ago.

Phil Vassar and the Lancers. They played at some sock-hops that I went

to when I was 5-6.

:D

Great cause-- not bad ticket prices--- but 65 bucks is TOO MUCH for only a fricking 20 minute set by Phil Vasser.

Mayer's set may be worth it if they promise that he will not sing-- he is a hell of a guitar player.

And well Dave Matthews---- I won't even get into it because I know some people on this board worship the ground he walks on.

It was $65 bucks for the public, which helped subsidize the tickets for the VT community. It may seem like a lot of money for short sets, but it's a small price to pay to help heal the VT spirit, IMHO. I would have gone if I was remotely close to the area.

The sets went longer.

I am not into country so much but Phil is genuine.

It WAS the first concert ever at Lane Stadium. Here's a review from the Richmond Times-Dispatch:

A little late  but here are some pics from the show. What an awesome evening it was! Not the greatest pics...but I wasn't supposed to even have a camera since I was working :o  Had to fire off the shots fast.

Phil Sr. was a piece of work! I played drums in the Lancers for several years. Those were the days!

Found the bass drum head in the attic ... a bit wrinkled with age (like me). Sure brings back some memories.
