Hang in there Gary.
Lisa, if you have an abcess, please get it looked at NOW.
Funny story: Here I am several years ago, the son of an Orthodontist, working part time for a dentist/winery owner and pretty much know all of the dentists in town. I get an abcess in one of my canines. As luck would have it, the American Dental Association was having their annual meeting and this year it is in San Francisco, just a short 45 miles away. ALL of the dentists in town were in SF, there wasnt one here who could help. Finally i got ahold of one who had skipped the meeting because he had the flu, but his service finally got through to him and because his office was next door to Dads, he came in to help me. Mr Murphy had a laugh at that one ...

lost fillings will eventually catch up with you, that's almost as sure as death and taxes...
a denist on the w/e or even working you in between scheduled appointments is likely to be billed as emergency, and most insurance companies won't pay for those, sooo be aware of that one...
of course, unless you see a dentist on a regular basis, as in every 6 months, I might let other things go but I see my dentist regularly.....
Good Luck, Garry, hope your pain is eased, and soon...
.....you only have to floss the ones you want to keep....

Longboardin' Al hasn't posted in a couple of weeks. But he has learned to text message and sent me one--no, two! ---yesterday.
But he's in Michigan; is that handy for you?

Don't knock the Dremel!
What do you think I use for late night emergencies?
I just tuned in to BN for the first time in 2 weeks for other reasons

,
and look what I found! I've actually been missed!

A little, but nothing like last night.
This morning when I got off work, I went home, took some Motrin, and went to sleep. When I woke up around 3:00 PM, I felt okay, but used a little more Orejel, had some fresh fruit, and so far, the pain has subsided quite a bit.
Thanks.

The pain can go away, which is fantastic, but you still are'nt cured.
Be sure to follow up with your dentist, as it will return eventually.
It will need either a root canal or extraction , judging from your description of the pain.
Either is better than a return to yesterday, right?
Besides. maybe your doc will earmark the revenue for lawn seats for his/her family next time around

ROOT CANAL OR EXTRACTION?
They BOTH sound scary.
It's the first bicuspid (upper), and when the filling fell out, half of the tooth went with it.
I'll definately make a dental appointment-and I have to say, I've been in combat and even had attempts on my life at THIS job, but nothing scares me like the sound of "ROOT CANAL OR EXTRACTION."
Not to mention the $$$$.
Oh well, I made it nearly 56 years with all my pearly whites intact.
Thanks for your input.

I've survived 5 of them, (root canals) the first when I was 15 yrs. old.

Root canals are often followed with a prescription of vicodin......
which is useful for when you are feeling better....
