Costco or Sam's Club?

Post by PhutureMD »

We have both here, have belonged to both. Thinking of joining one again and wondering what the general preference was.

The second Sam's club opened near my office about 20 years ago.

I've never been in a Costco, but have shopped at Sam's for quite awhile.

we use costco for our big once a month buy.
the sams club here is horrible and usually only has 2 checkouts open so they are not very speedy.

Costco!!!

I've been a member of Sam's but it's been years since I stepped foot in a Sam's club. My son's a member but I've never been with him - maybe next trip to Ft Worth....

There wasn't a Costco near me when I lived in Dallas and the Sams were all a PITA for me to get to once the closest one to me shut down. That was almost 15 years ago.

We've got both here. Don was a Costco member when I got here and when I asked why he wasn't a Sam's member (as it's somewhat closer) he told me when he considered joining the application was way too long
Well...(said in my best Bubba voice) I've been on sabbatical.

There are no Costco's here, but I checked neither since I really DON'T need 20 of the same item.

Been a Sams Club member for about 15 years, a nice one opened recently 15 minutes from where I live. Only Costcos around here are 45 minute to hour drives so I don't know what they are like, not driving that far to buy food.

Costco.

Better quality stuff.

Sam's Clubs have a lot of junk including bulk meat and fish that, in my opinion, looks ready for the trash.

Costco is 45 minutes away and Sam's Club 20 minutes away. We check out Sam's Club about once every 6 months and what we see is never impressive, in my opinion.

Never been to a Costco. But I did recently notice one has opened in town.
Had no choice but to vote for Sammy.

I'd need an either/or... Been a member of both. E likes Sam's better, so we went with that. Both have their good and bad points. :)

We tried Sam's once and couldn't get out of there without spending $400 each time so we didn't renew. Our parents belong to each, so if we need 10,000 of something we'll have them pick it up.

I'd tend to say I prefer Costco because they seem to have a number of gluten-free items including these yummy pistachio snacks and tamales that Victoria likes a lot. Did I mention my stepdad works there? He chose that as his "retirement" job. He picks up all sorts of yummy stuff for the kids and it makes going to Grammy and Papo's extra special.

I haven't really shopped in any of these stores in a long time. A Costco just opened by our house. Right now we belong to Sam's and we used to belong to BJ's. I need to look in Costco for gluten-free (thanks BB). But we really don't need a gallon jar of olives or oil any more. :o
When my son was still in high school he would eat the groceries as I was unloading them from the car! One day I had brought home one of those roasted chickens and then I ran out to pick up the littlest keet from dance. When I came home, he had eaten the ENTIRE CHICKEN as his afterschool snack!!! :o  Now I just stock up when he's home for a visit. 8)

So there is just 3 of us now and if we buy in massive amounts we tend to eat in massive amounts. But we do drink a lot of water, so my husband usually stops in twice a month for 3-4 cases.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Pinot Noir in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO"

If I go, and it's rarely, my choice is Costco, because of the evil Walmart thing. Agree with you...
