Never a good day for me. As a lot of you know I spent 3 weeks at ground zero starting around 11am that day. Your words do help me (us) get through the day.
Never forget...

I was thinking of you earlier this morning...remembering how much you did like so many others, and how worried we all were about you...
God Bless You....and we will Never forget

. .I didn't know anyone that was directly involved in the sad events of that day . . nor anyone involved in the assistance . . .
. .I wish I had known you then . . .thank you for all you did . .

Thank you for what you did. I am sure it was a very hard job. My thoughts are with you and everyone who was personally involved that day, weeks, months, and years to come.
MSNBC is running the Today show replay tonight at 9:00 eastern, if anyone is interested.... me, I think it's too painful to watch.

Anybody in the NY area who gets MSG Network on their cable system - they're supposed to be rerunning the Concert for New York City tonight at 9:00. I don't know if they're going to show all of it or just highlights.

Beautiful BG!
We are having a prayer service at school today. Definitely will be a box of tissues day. The nose of the plane in the Pentagon landed under my hubby's desk. He was so lucky to be in a meeting and not in his office. Those 8 hours of my life waiting to hear from him were the longest of my life.
Thank you Lord for saving my husband that awful day....
Adn you know, there are still people who refuse to believe that it happened
Remembering today in my heart and honoring those that gave their all.

I always wear the US flag on my left shoulder (in uniform)... its hard not to look at it every morning.... or see everyone else with the same flag on their shoulder.
I just heard retreat played (its the playing of the Anthem at 4pm) while I was reading this thread... that sent chills down my spine.

Was at play rehearsal tonight with Victoria. The play mentions 9/11. Quite profound tonight, really.

I went downtown after work last night. With the lousy weather we had most of the day, by time it got dark enough to see the towers of light it looked like San Francisco with the fog rolling in. The pictures didn't come out very good. FDNY's Emerald Society had their bagpipers there for a wreath laying ceremony. They played the Marine Corps Hymn, Auld Lang Syne and Amazing Grace. There was also a Marine Corps sargeant in his dress blues leading a riderless horse with boots turned backwards in the stirrups. That picture didn't come out very good, it had gotten pretty dark by then.
In picture #8 where you see the list of names, the name at the top of the list is my neighbor's grandson, Port Authority Police Officer Christopher Amoroso.

Again Larry ...
great pictures, as usual. Thank you.
btw, just as an aside... a guy from our MA town who survuived that day at the towers donates $10,000.00 each year for scholarship money to be split among 10 seniors who demonstrte a high level of scholarship, communtiy service, and a desire to make the world better... SoulMate and I were extremely proud and very teary-eyed when our daughter was named one of the recipients this past June. As native New Yorkers it really hit home for us.

Yesterday was the first time I wasn't in NY on 9/11 since the attacks, although I'm in Washington. I did go to Pentagon City yesterday and it was very eerie passing through both the Arlington Cemetery and Pentagon subway stations.
It's weird, that day I remember so clear, yet it seems like a blur. I was beginning 7th grade and I remember it was a beautifully sunny day, like today for anyone living in the Northeast. I was in 2nd period math and right before class ended, the principal came over the PA and told teachers to hold the students in class after the bell as a precaution. While this was happening my teacher got a memo and said that something had happened in NYC and Washington, and nothing more. This being the days still of Columbine and similar copy-cat attacks, I thought it was a school shooting.
We eventually change classes and throughout the day, you started to notice kids were being taken out of class and that some teachers had leaked some bits of what had happened. But still it wasn't the complete story so it was kinda confusing. Apparently, a plane flew into one, maybe both, Twin Towers, depending on who you heard from, and they might or might not have collapsed.
My mom picked me up at the end of the day, and my first question after finding out that both towers did in fact collapse was if my dad was okay, since I knew he sometimes had to go up to the 99th floor for work. He luckily wasn't there that day, but knew alot of people who had no chance since they were so high up in the Towers.
Anyway, that was my perspective of the day from a kid's point of view.
I will never forget.
