they no longer need? I know there are folks in every walk of life here career wise so I am hoping someone has one.
I bought two professional U-Matic machines last weekend and they both powered up great. Stupid me forgot I just can't run down to Walmart and pick one up.
Thanks in advance if you can or cannot help.
Odd Request. Does anyone by chance have a U-Matic tape......

Thanks sir, I had no idea they still sold them. Big Jimmy mentioned ebay, which I had not thought of before.
At least I get a workout these jokers weigh 75 pounds each.

Oh man. I learned how to edit on a U-matic. I think it was a Sony 5600, or close to that model. Simple inserts and overlays.
I have a U-matic tape with my first demo cut in 1984. I cut my own version of "The Curly Shuffell".
I should transfer that.
I think I still have a blank tape unopened, but it's at least 20 years old.

I have a Sony VO-5850 Editor and a Sony VP-2010 player. The editor was made mid 90's the player was made 80' or 81'. I found a power cord today for the editor so I am going to see if it at least powers on. If it works with a tape I may either keep it or sell it. I am sure someone out there might be in the market for a player and editor.moog wrote:Oh man. I learned how to edit on a U-matic. I think it was a Sony 5600, or close to that model. Thanks for checking for me. I have seen working 5850's sell for as much as 1k used on various websites. I think with most TV stations now digital they are probably phasing out the machines.moog wrote:So far I haven't received requests for 3/4'' transfers. Not sure if it would be feasible to add to my chain.
I have to make sure I still have the blank. I moved and a few things were boxed. I'll let you know.
Come to think of it I may have used the 5850. Been a long time.
I almost bought a master from a u matic of a 1974 nfl playoff game on ebay but the guy wanted and got 2500 for it.
