Recipes for Singles

Post by mommar »

OK football season is here and I'm not a fan,............so......... my mind turns to Christmas gifts  :-? This year I have 5 of 6 of my children and my sisters children who I think need a cookbook........I'm going to put it together myself for them, but I need recipes...........recipes for singles as they are all college students and/or out living on their own, and none of them know how to cook.........we, my sister and I are forever getting phone calls on how to make........ :-?    Of course I'll include the basics for them, but I'd like some of your favorite recipes for singles............as usual, Thanks bunches, M :)

I want mostly quick/easy stuff...........I had one call me the other day, "how do you make hamburgers?"   I'm putting in stuff that singles can do for themselves, not dinner party meals, basic cooking, like blt's, baked potatoes, steak, spaghetti and sauce, simple things, that can get them thru. I'm saving the more complicated meals and deserts for when they are older and know that there is more to life than hamburgers, mac and cheese, and soup, salad, and sandwiches

I had tried to teach mine how to cook, but that didn't last long, with homework, sports practices, work, they/we just didn't make the time, it was always easier for me to cook, or in my sister's case..order out

:o on the 6 of yours.........we've got 6 between us :D

OK a few "tips"
Keep some things on hand
sliced olives
Mushrooms
Ragu (or whatever brand you like, I use the Walmart brand)
Rice a Roni (or store brand)
Hambuger helper (or store brand)
onions
jars of Salsa
sour cream
mushroom soup
Sweet and Sour Sauce
Beer (for the chef)

Rice a roni is cool add meat.. (hamburger or Chicken)
and dinner is served..
also great mix ins..
Chop up some onions or bell peppers or add
add mushrooms (fresh or canned)
sour cream
try the spanish rice and add sour cream, and/or Salsa
buy some grated cheese and melt on top.
add a can or some frozen corn
those tips also work for Hamburger helper..

use the Oriental rice a roni and add chicken (cooked) and pour sweet and sour
sauce over (add pineapple too) 8)

I will work on some other stuff.
