Problems With BN on New Server Using Vista

Post by FunkHouse9 »

Since BN moved to the new server, I've been having problems when using my desktop that runs Vista. I no longer remain logged in after closing my browser. When I do log back in and click to read posts since last login, nothing comes up. I don't have this problem when using my laptop or work computers which are running XP and I didn't have any problem on the Vista computer until the server change. I hadn't changed any settings on my system recently, so nothing is different on my end that I'm aware of.

Is anyone else having trouble too?

I'm not sure this will help, but it's the only "trick" I know...

when you log in initially, click the "log me in automatically each visit" box.

Hope this helps! :D

I always do that and have definately been checking that box this time around. I'm not clearing my browser cookies, so I can't see why it's not keeping that setting.

Well Shucks! I'm sorry that didn't work :-?

Maybe it has something to do w/ Vista?

I'll make sure PHJim knows you're having a problem.

Here's a thought ..... is your PC configured for auto update?
Maybe some recent "security" update from Mr Softy has caused this?

i had the same problem over at the key lime cafe. it was a server /phpBB software issue that was fixed by KLL reseting my account on the server.

I'd feel bad for you, but I have no soul.....

I don't use Vista but once I got off of IE, I was never logged on anyway. It may just be the browser.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

You might try deleting any cookies BN has put on your hard drive.... and deleting the internet temp files....

I tried clearing my cookies (much different than tossing my cookies)....still does it.....but really, it takes approximately .7 seconds to type in my password.....it's not that big of a deal.....

The only problem I've had is that when I'm on BN and other message boards that are set up in the same style as BN, I sometimes get randomly logged out even without leaving the site. But I think thats more my network not playing nicely than BN since it happened on the old server too.

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

I think I figured out a possible workaround, but not the cause of the problem. When I have this problem (which now happens on my XP AND Vista systems), I would log in and it would tell me my last login was now. I couldn't figure out why how it would know I was just on if it thought I wasn't logged on. So, I started clicking buttons and without logging in, it finally showed me as logged in.

If you are set to stay logged in and it seems as though you are not staying logged in, when you come back, try clicking "profile" at the top left. When I do that, the system seems to finally realize that I am logged in and I get to see the posts since last visit as I like to do. Just thought I'd pass that tidbit on to those having the same problems as me. :D
