He reminds me of my Norman!!! Is his tail tipped in white? I am betting, big, that he had Border Collie in him.
One thing you need to know about BCs, they need a job, sometimes, they find the job themselves. You know play ball, herd, any fetching or a watch dog (with a sweet temperment). You will find male dogs are a bit more affectionate than female.
Norman was a rescue that we got when he was about 6 months old. Very laid back, would only get up energy if he needed to. But since we did not know his background, we had no idea if he had any problems or not. When my gram passed in July, he stopped eating. Norman passed on 8/27, in my arms. One of the hardest things I had to indur. He was only 10 and had years left.
We think he did not find his job until he was 8, when my gram came to live with us. He watched over her and was ALWAYS by her side. He never let anyone close to her that he did not know.
When she passed I think that he knew his job was done, and whatever mysterous problem that ailed him, he allowed it to take over. He was the best dog you could ever ask for; I am very thankful to still have Jess - since she is the first best dog I had.
So keep in mind he may not be there long....he is there to do his job. AND if you are lucky enough to have him for many many years, you will know you were truly blessed with a perfect companion.
Marley is a great name!

Well, Marley's owner has been found. He's back with his real family this morning. His name is Clyde, and he also had a sister named Bonnie who is still missing.
They rescued them from a shelter a few months ago, and they've obviously been good to him. Apparently they have vindictive neighbors who would let the dogs out of the yard, they even think the female might have been stolen and sold
It's tough to see him go, but I know the family he's with loves him, so it's not too bad. My wife (who is not a dog person) even had a tough go of it.

I'm sorry to hear that but happy for Clyde. They need to latch thier gate. We had someone leaving out gate open at night. So if we let the dogs out, they would run. Never did find out who was doing it, have an idea. Our dogs never barked more than 3 times, before we let me in...no excuse.
Hopefully Bonnie is found....
If you don't like animals or can't find the time to take care of them - then DON'T own one! There should be more people like us and Clyde's humans!!!
best wishes

I'm so glad you were able to return him to his owners. I know they are so relieved to have him back! I hope they find his partner in crime (Bonnie and ClydeSharkOnLand wrote:![]()

It's always a double edge sword isn't it? In one aspect, I am happy that the actual owners got Clyde back but on another aspect, it sucks that couldn't keep him.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
Life is short, live long!!
I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.
