Who's Going to the Fillmore 10/18?

Okay - I know it ain't quite confirmed yet, but the PHIP ticket coordinators are taking money and reservations.

San Francisco - no real parking lot for a tailgater. The Fillmore Website suggests parking at the nearby AMC Kabuki theaters. Any thoughts from our resourceful and creative membership?

I am definitely going. I'd be willing to consider carpooling from the East Bay.

i went the last time. the kabuki theater is across the street from the fillmore.
i am sure more than a few people know that. as for any place to gather before the show, i have no clue. i will stick my neck out, and say there isn't any place for a gathering.

The "pre-show party" may end up being in Hayward the night before (10/17). I'm doing a show then, anyway. :) Gotta start the weekend early, as Bubba always says...

If I remember correctly, tickets only went on sale the week before the show 2 years ago and they were all will call. After you picked up your ticket you had to go right inside.

I remember it was very last minute. Had I not already gotten Vegas tickets and plane reservations, I probably would have gone. But between Vegas and Key West...that's usually about as many extravagances as I can afford in one month.

About a gathering place - won't people be waiting in line to get in? I haven't seen Jimmy at the Fillmore, but for other big-name concerts (e.g., Indigo Girls), people started lining up hours before the concert.

Maybe the "tailgate" will have to be on the sidewalk.

Or heck...we *could* have the pre-concert party the night before, out in the East Bay where I'm gigging. :)

I'm just sayin'. :pirate:

It *is* only going to be 1000-1100 people, as opposed to the 20K or so who'd show up at Shoreline. So there's not quite as much raw material out of which to make a party happen. But wherever three or more people are gathered in Bubba's name...a party *can* happen. :D

You are correct. Any dranking will have to be stealthy, the security guards are essentially compelled to enforce the no likker on the street laws. They will kick you out of line and not let you in. Now a little rum mixed in your coke bottle ...

Having been to several shows at The Fillmore, I am confident when I say their security team is the biggest bunch of a**holes I've seen in my 500+ concerts all over the country. I was walking into soundcheck with the lead singer of Cowboy Junkies a few years back and they almost kicked her out and accused her of bringing an entourage. My friend and I were excited to be considered an entourage, of course. More recently, a friend was almost beaten up for recording a show that had an open taping policy.

Basically, there is no venue I'd be less excited about to visit while dressed in a coconut bra and drunk on rum....

i have only been to the fillmore 2 times. (poco and jimmy) and for the poco show, the security dudes seemed very agreeable to providing a good pummeling to who ever they were throwing out.

now this would be just flat god d*m brilliant. "How can we make a crowd really angry?" "Let's get rid of the lead singer before the show they can't perform and we have to issue refunds because we're responsible, not the band..."

brilliant.
