Jimmy ever going to Wrigley again?

Post by Burgerflickle »

After my Cubbies lost three straight playoff games, my dreams were shattered of Jimmy playing at Wrigley again since I didnt get to see him the first time. He did say during the concert that they would be back if the Cubs won the world series, do ya'll think that he would actually be back if they won or was just saying that from being lost in the moment of beautiful Wrigley?

I am a die hard cubs fan. I hope he NEVER EVER PLAYS Wrigley again.

First off - 2pm concerts--- What a fricking waste.

Sorry Im just getting primed up at that time to enjoy a show with thousands of people I probably would not be able to stand sober.

Location is a PIA. Very little parking, and if you do find any, well it will probably cost you as much as your ticket did.

Matt-I agree with your basic points, but as someone that loves Wrigley and was at both concerts-it was a blast, and I would do it again in a hearbeat.

Yes, a 2pm concert in the city is a different experience, but we had a great time!

If it's any consolation, the feeling was probably mutual.

That is the post of the year!!

I went to the Dreaded 2 pm show and we all loved it. Yes parking there is a pain, but is paying $25.00 and walking a few blocks really a tragedy? The day show was a neat change of pace, and if you have to be drunk for a show there are a few bars close by

Why would anyone take a car anywhere near Wrigleyville on the day of a game/concert?

Thank you! (though I drove a few times this year, especially since one of the friends I go to games with is 81).

As A Vendor who worked bith show at Wrigley, There is a rumor that Jimmy WILL play in 2008. Rumors are like rearends every one has one. All I know is that the corona will not be $6.00 like in 2006. they will be $7.00. ouch!! But thats a rumor now. I'll be there sober. Just listening to Jimmy making money. Not a bad gig!

$7 for a Corona is still cheaper than Tinley Park.

And the deal with the city and neighborhood supposedly allows for a concert weekend every other year. Since the Police played there this year, I am not sure how likely a concert would be for 2008.

The "agreement" I heard about between the powers that be at Wrigley and the Wrigleyville neighborhood is when Jimmy started the trend of having concerts at Wrigley in 2005, live shows would only take place there every other year. so far it looks like this is playing out this way with the Police show this summer. I'm thinking the next possible Wrigley show would not be until 2009. Which means a very good chance Alpine 2008 will happen! WOO HOO! I know there was also a stipulation in the contract when Jimmy played at Wrigley that he could not play another show within 250 miles of Wrigley 90 days before or after the Wrigley shows....which was a major bummer for me because Alpine 2005 was the concert that never happened  also no World music theater show that year or Tweeter center or whatever bank pavilion that place in Tinley Park is called now.
I'll never say I will never go to a Wrigley show.....Wrigley is an awesome place and I love the atmosphere there....even though I am a St. Louis Cardinals fan... :D I'm just not a fan of stadium shows. And if I do go to a stadium show...I like to have the option of tailgating. I'd much rather drink a 12 pack in the parking lot for what it would cost me to drink two beers inside. A friend of mine went to the Wrigley shows and I warned him about the lack of parking and tailgating. After he shut the car off he got out, popped open a Corona, and promptly received a $278 ticket from one of Chicago's finest. :P :P just my 0.02.

If I were to pay $7 for a beer, that beer would not be a Corona. Lowenbrau, Nega Modelo, Leinenkugel, perhaps. But not Corona. It has a great image but a horrible taste, IMO.
