on Yost - Corsair's is a great place for breakfast - good "jump-up coffee"
Soggy Dollar Bar - home of the friendly but sleepy Soggy Dog
Go to Anegada for snorkeling at Loblolly Bay and a glass of rum and conch fritters at the Big Bamboo Beach Bar. Then to the Anegada Reef Hotel for the best grilled lobster in the islands - make your reservations early!
Go to Quito's Gazebo at Cane Garden Bay, Stanley's Welcome Bar is another great spot right on the water - it's where the children play on the shore each day.
And you can't miss a personalized tour of the Callwood Rum Distillery just up the road from the beach. Michael Callwood is a nice laid back guy and his sons are friendly and will lead the tour for a little money - I think we gave them $20 and then bought a few bottles of rum afterward - some of the best in the world!

you can't lay on the beach and drink rum all day if you don't start in the morning

Hope you don't mind us checking out your photos ... looks like you had a great vacation!!
We're heading down to St. John for a week at the beginning of February. Really looking forward to spending some time in the islands ... a day on St. Thomas, hopefully one on Tortola, getting certified for scuba and just taking it easy on St. John.
'Cause I want to be there, I want to go back down and lie beside the sea there ...

One week from this moment we will be riding the ferry from Charlotte Amalie over to Tortola's West End......(sigh).........Afternoon Golfer wrote:Just over a week left for you bp? We have a narrow connection window in San Juan I hope we make.bubba phan wrote:Yum yum yum yum yum yum yum!!!
AG, we fly direct from Charlotte to St. Thomas and take the ferry so we can avoid connections and the San Juan airport.....heard nothing but bad things about that place. I'll choose a boat ride over having a connecting flight (especially in the winter) anytime!
I've been through SJU more times than I can remember both as a connection and a destination. I have never had a problem in that airport except for the horrid food in the terminal. All flights have been on time and connections were a breeze.bubba phan wrote:
