Their trademark hit actually was recorded by Savatage for their album "Dead Winter Dead", which is the story of a boy and a girl who meet and fall in love, despite fighting on opposite sides of the war in Sarajevo.

Their music evolved into a Christmas album under the TSO name, and has further evolved. Their shows are spectacular. They are a fluid group of very talented musicians, each filling a particular role. (In particular, Jon Oliva is one of my 5 favorite musicians of ALL TIME).

I highly recommend seeing them. If you only get one album...I recommend their only non-Christmas entry...."Beethoven's Last Night". Spectacular. I'm highly anticipating the newest work, "Night Castle". If you enjoy their style, then try some of the Savatage albums....particularily similar to the TSO style are "The Wake Of Magellan" and "Handful Of Rain", but most of their later work is done in the storybook style that the TSO albums are structured in.

Maybe their style isn't for everyone, but I think everyone owes it to themselves to find out if is their thing. Please, if at all curious, treat yourself to the show.
WOW....I didn't know they had another album due out.....looking forward to hearing that. I'm also a big fan of Jon Oliva. I agree that Beethoven's Last Night is spectacular, but you do have to be in a certain mood to really enjoy it.

They're showing
Wed. 12 Dec. Greenville, SC 7:30PM
and
Wed. 12 Dec. Omaha, NE 7:30PM

???? :o ????
Yes. Since it is technically an "orchestra", they don't have to be defined by who is playing the music. They split the band down the middle, have two (equally talented) sets out on tour every Christmas. I've seen both. Both very good!
Now if we could just somehow clone Jimmy.... :pirate:
I'm a one-man band with no
Immediate plans...

Well...it's been "coming out" for about 3 years now...not exactly GnR territory, but they have said there is progress being made. Don't hold your breath.

I went last year and was really amazed at the production.

Laser lights, columns of flames so big you can feel the heat on your face,

and it snowed inside. Not plastic or styrofoam, nah, this stuff would land

on you and then just melt away.

:o

There are some hot looking chics too.

I saw them in Green Bay several years back and they were Fantastic!!!! I love listening to their music around Christmas!
They play in Milwaukee Madison and Green Bay this year.... hopefully we'll be able to set them in Milwaukee (that date works out better).

I got invited to last night's show at the last minute as a fill-in for a friend who couldn't go. OMG!!! WHAT A SHOW!!!! 14th row center section! I have their albums but the concert experience is amazing! Awesome guitar rock. Chris Caffery and Alex Skolnik blew me away! Hot chicks! Lasers! Snow! Fire! The closing reprise of "Sarajevo" was so loud I couldn't hear myself screaming. Instrument audio was perfect. Vocal mix, especially with the backup singers, was muddled.

All things considered, the best rock show I've ever seen! :D :D :D 8)

Yup, lots of hair. Alex Skolnik has grown his hair longer this year, and with those 2 white streaks my friend Joelle called him "the coolest guy on the planet". :o :D 8)

I've been to several TSO concerts already...... I've had chills down my spine a few times.

Its a Christmas tradition in our house.... try to go to a TSO concert each year.
