Just returned from the show in East Rutherford, NJ. And out of all people, who shows up as a special guest? Steven Tyler of Aerosmith. Played Sweet Emotion and Dream On. I was 3rd row center and about 5 feet from the legendary Steven Tyler. It was pretty crazy.

Oh yeah, TSO was great as always :D

Went Sunday night and saw them again. Good news, they are going on a spring tour.

Phone took a few good pics, here is one. I was dead center 3 rows back.

Warning — semi-hijack of thread!

I see that Mannheim Steamroller, like TSO, is also touring this Christmas season; and like the TSO, they also have two "Steamrollers" performing simultaneously. This makes me wonder — How can they do something like that, and still proclaim themselves as Mannheim Steamroller, or the Trans-Siberian Orchestra?

Seems to me that splitting up the original group so they can perform twice as many shows in the same time changes the performance. More to the point, is it even the same group? I have tickets to see Mannheim in Rochester on the 19th, and I want to see/hear Chip Davis and the rest of the troupe; the same ones I've heard on the records and seen in the videos. I don't want to see half a band with some pick-up musicians to fill out the roster....but like it or not, I guess I'm stuck with it. And what makes it worse, even the people at the venue don't know if Chip is going to be there or not!!

When I went to see Jimmy and the Reefers at Alpine in August, I expected to see Jimmy, Nadirah, Mr. Utley, Mac, Doyle, and all the rest — and I did. If I had, in the day, gone to see the Beatles I would have expected to see John, Paul, George, and Ringo....not John and Ringo with two other performers calling themselves the Beatles in, say, Madison, while Paul and George (and two other performers) are also calling themselves the Beatles while they play a gig in Massachusetts.

I think it's cheating the customers when you don't send out the originals....each and every one of them (exceptions of course are allowed for illness and personal emergencies)....rather than playing a "split-squad" like the baseball teams do during spring training.
