We may have to recreate the "old" KW feel somewhere else..... I don't think I care much for the new, improved upscale condo version.... :(

Yeah, that's a bummer. What's the next - upstairs of the Bull and Whistle?

My wife and I stayed there for MOTM in 2005. Great location - right around the corner from the Conch Republic Seafood Co. and Schooner Wharf. Please do yourself a favor and check out Don Middlebrook at the CRSC during the afternoons - great music with an even better view right on the water. I really wish we were going again, but we just had a little Parakeet - hopefully we'll be back in the near future! have a great time!!

The Southernmost Hotel was great. It's on the far eastern end of Duval Street 1 block from the beach. It's an easy walk down Duavl to all the bars. Get a pool view room.
But I've gotta stop wishin, gotta go fishin

Forget walkin. Rent a bike for ten dollars a day. But watch out for those danged parked cars. After a few beers they just jump right out at you.

We walked the first day and then rented bikes for the rest of the week. Great way to explore Key West. The bike rental is right across the street from the hotel. Riding home from the bars at 2am was an experience. Make sure you get lights from the rental guy. They say that the police give out tickets if you don't have lights on the bikes after dark.

I had a beer at the Whistle last night! I try not to climb upstairs-it's usually "bad ugly"!

Actualy, there are some sad plans in the future. If you look at the new drawn up picture plans of the waterfront you notice there is no Schooner Wharf in the picture. :( Waterfront market is a goner as well. I would like to personally thank all the mainlanders who want to escape the mainland and come to KW and turn into the mainland.

But it can be saved! The next person here to die has to have part of their remains put inside the bar. Hence making it sacred ground. :) Just like the Chart room.

I have it in my will to have half of my ashes in Capt Tony's. :)

To be more preciese... If you do not have lights you could get pulled over. If you have had a few drinks you will be given a DUI. Yes, it is real. real ticket, real insurance hikes, real fines, and real points on your license.

I know this probly sounds silly to most. Consider that the bike is considered a main source of transportation as well.

Also know that when on Duval you must ride on the road. No bike riding on the sidewalk of Duval st.

Oh, and no Segues either...hey I would not say it if I have not seen it. It to bad there are no Segues allowed. Talk about a money making oppertunity in the rental business ! :)

Was told the same thing here in Jersey. Was talking to a cop outsice a bar at the shore and I mentioned that I rode my bike. He told me that you can get a DUI on your bicycle.

Sorry to here about the waterfont area. We like to go to the Waterfront market for stone crab claws. What a great place.

Our shore town here in Jersey is going throught the same transformation. Everyting that I grew up with is gone and now we have brand new "Empty" condos sitting everywhere. It's all about making a quick buck. People are buying them as investments and then realizing that they really can't afford the payments so they are either sitting empty or the banks are foreclosing. Change sucks!!!!

Fun. Not like FF, but fun. But be warned, rates are up and it is usually a 3 night minimum.

Crowded.
Crowded and crazy, beads boobs and all.
pricey!
Been there twice for New Years, saw things I never had before.
If $400 for a Days Inn type room is your idea of a bargain, enjoy!

For a mere $110 including all taxes you can pitch a tent over the bridge one key east. Nice bathrooms for a campground. Not worth the price, but nice. No KOA, but nicer than a national forest.
