"Dixie Diner"

Post by trojan_sixtyone »

Is "Dixie Diner" from YHTBT a cover or what?

I've never known, and I've never heard any version other than Jimmy's version from YHTBT.

I will say that I like it and it would be a great song to do at a show where Fingers is present.

Take me for what I am, a star newly emerging.
I accept the new found man, and I set the twilight reeling.

Pretty interesting. Did a brief Google on the song and didn't see any instances of an artist performing the song other than JB.

It's a great song I wish he'd bring back. It'd be a great way to feature the CRB as a lead-in from the intermission.

For a concert it's the absolute WORST venue I've ever been in. The seats are more crammed than those in coach on a DC-3, and your either sitting in the floor section or in friggin' PURGATORY.
Accoustics are adequate, but leave a lot to be desired.
Also, ironically, that last concert at the Pyramid where he preformed "Dixie Diner" was also the last concert he ever did in Memphis.

BTW-There's a restaurant in Memphis called the DIXIE CAFE, and I always thought that was the inspiration for the song "Dixie Diner," but apparently not.

It's a shame it's so bad inside. It looks really cool from the outside.

I guess it's supposed to look like the pyramids of ancient Memphis in Egypt, and, while it may on the outside, on the inside it's anything but.
It was supposedly built for the Arena football league team, a hockey team, and the Memphis Grizzlies N.B.A. team.
I don't know what it's like for sporting events-the first and last time I was in there was for Jimmy Buffett's last concert in Memphis-April 27, 1995.
