We also made sure he had all the Hardy Boys books, too.

We didn't ban anything ... as a result, he reads. A lot.

I would have encouraged him to read Harry Potter.
Mine have never had anything banned, either. But then, I'd almost agree to PLAYBOY if it would get two of my three to at least read the captions....
Spew! I'm sure there were PLAYBOY mags in his room ... for the articles, doncha know? :D
Best line ever from an ex-boyfriend- "I really do read Playboy for the articles- I have the internet for p***." And then the blood drained from his face and I got the "Oh crap, that was my out loud voice, I think I just blew it" look.

:o :o Now that is pretty damned funny!

because a segment of adults do not accept be gay as being okay. and the last thing they want their children exposed to is the idea that gay people exist.

my mom volunteers at a elementary school and helps out in the library. there hardly is a day there isn't some parent in complaining about the harry potter books and demanding they be removed. and its not a case of please do not allow my child to read them, but that NO child should be allowed to read them.
hmmm.... didn't the nazis burn and ban books..........?
so did a christian fundy church in terra haute indiana in the summer of 1980. i went to it. they also burned rock and roll records.....
Then Kevin Bacon moved to town and got the kids dancin'

Ironically, in the Muggle world, Dumbledore wouldn't be able to hold a position like that, if anyone knew of his orientation.

Still, the revelation makes for some relatively obvious joke lines about sending Malfoy to the headmaster's office for remedial wand practise...

Me, I was more interested in the pics of JR's wardrobe near-malfunction. But then, I'm *not* gay...:)
