Yeah, that's it.

Glad you're feeling better, though.

I think the closest thing to comfort food I can bring you will come in a bottle. You don't want me cooking for you unless you have a strong constitution and a paid up insurance policy.

CHOCOLATE!!!!!!
hot open roast beef sammich with lots of gravy and mashed potatoes!
OH HELL YEAH! And I'd have to put in another vote for mac-n-cheese. Comfort "breakfast" food would be corned beef hash. Only Armour Star, no other brand.
I am with you both on the sammich, though I also like an open faced turkey sandwich with gravy and mashed potatoes.

I love all types of food... comfort foods that come to mind are:
Lasagne
Roast Beef w/ potatoes and veggies
Soups w/ bread (I make tons of bread in the bread maker)
There's one dish I make that is great - we call it the "heart attack special"
- pork loin coated in flour, then sauted w/ onion... add mushrooms, sliced tomatoes and cheese sauce... add port to cheese sauce and bake...
The dish is heavenly with bread, rice or potatoes on a chilly night.

Wino, I'm sensing a pattern in your taste in comfort foods!
Which reminds me: the BEST way to eat a steak (other than medium rare, and only at home-never in public!) is with your hands. Primal, and SATISFYING! VERY comforting.

When I was in the Quad Cities a few days ago, I stopped for lunch at a Bob Evans Steak House (a popular chain restaurant in the midwest & parts of the south), and I odered the ribeye steak & fries.
The damn steak they brought out to me was a measly 10-ounce portion that wouldn't feed an ant.
When the waitress asked me if I wanted a side order of anything, I said yes, I'd like a side order of
another steak!!!
And a diet coke.

CARNIVORE!
My comfort foods (things I crave when the world is closing in) fall into two categories:
1) Things my mom made (she's still going strong in her eighties);
2) Things I've come across that spell COMFORT to me.
The short list would include a hearty stew made with lots of MEAT and fresh veggies that's been simmering on the stove for a few hours along with a couple of thick slices of warm bread fresh from the oven.
Cold beer and pizza (the more toppings the better).
Cold beer and grilled cheese sandwich.
Last but not least a cup of tea and a quiet place to sip it.

OMG, Garry!
I hope you hang around with someone who knows CPR!!!
Personally, I gave up red meat about 3 years ago. Saw an infomercial on what it does to your colon. Don't miss it one bit.
My all-time favorite 'comfort' food is definately Mac-n-Cheese!

Honey, I'll be 56 in a couple months.
What's red meat going to do?
KILL me?

Mine is the classic Macaroni and cheese, I like to use gruyere cheese for it and sliced tomatoes on top, very comforting.
