How do you obtain most of your music?
I used to buy the CD through BMG or at the store or sometimes even a used CD store because I had to have the artwork and liner notes.
These days I find that I am actually purchasing more on downloads like iTunes or Rhapsody.

I buy CDs most of the time. If I only like a song or two from an artist, I will download it, no point in buying a whole CD when only a song or two is good on it.
As for where I buy CDs, I try to buy them from a store, but with the only local store being Wal-Mart, I have a hard time finding the CDs I want, so I'll end up ordering them from B&N or Amazon or something...

I voted for CD online because I need to start doing it that way, just because I know I can get a better deal than going to the store. The one thing about buying mp3's is that I feel like I wouldn't listen to them as often as I would a CD. I've got literally 1000's of mp3's that I've either uploaded from CD's or....um..."obtained" from limewire
that I never listen to. (Probably would help if I had an mp3 player, however.
)

Most of the time I'll go to a store and buy CDs. FYE is a block away from my office and the Virgin Mega Store is in Times Square, about 5 or 6 blocks away, so I can go on my lunch hour. If there's only a song or 2 I'm looking for, that's what iTunes is for.
The NY Post started something they call MPFrees a few months ago. Every Tuesday they have 5 songs on their website that you can download for free. Most of them are crap but I've gotten a handful of good songs from there.

wise a**. I meant a portable version. And before you say it, yes my computer is a laptop, but I'm talking something a little bit smaller.

I mostly buy CDs...major label online from Amazon, indie artists at their shows. When I want to cover something, but don't know it well enough from memory, I might buy it from iTunes.
I get a certain number of exchange CDs when I trade with other artists. I've got a large pile of these I'm slowly working my way through.
And, of course, sometimes I just write my own.
