How do you obtain most of your music?

Post by 12vmanRick »

I used to buy the CD through BMG or at the store or sometimes even a used CD store because I had to have the artwork and liner notes.

These days I find that I am actually purchasing more on downloads like iTunes or Rhapsody.

I buy CDs most of the time. If I only like a song or two from an artist, I will download it, no point in buying a whole CD when only a song or two is good on it.

As for where I buy CDs, I try to buy them from a store, but with the only local store being Wal-Mart, I have a hard time finding the CDs I want, so I'll end up ordering them from B&N or Amazon or something...

I voted for CD online because I need to start doing it that way, just because I know I can get a better deal than going to the store. The one thing about buying mp3's is that I feel like I wouldn't listen to them as often as I would a CD. I've got literally 1000's of mp3's that I've either uploaded from CD's or....um..."obtained" from limewire [smilie=whistle.gif] [smilie=whistle.gif] that I never listen to. (Probably would help if I had an mp3 player, however.  )

It depends on the artist. If it's a artist that I like a lot and can get the cd autographed I do that. Otherwise it's just too damn convenient to buy it online.

I used to steal much of it from exboyfriends. Now I just buy CDs. Haven't really jumped on the music download bandwagon yet.

Most of the time I'll go to a store and buy CDs. FYE is a block away from my office and the Virgin Mega Store is in Times Square, about 5 or 6 blocks away, so I can go on my lunch hour. If there's only a song or 2 I'm looking for, that's what iTunes is for.

The NY Post started something they call MPFrees a few months ago. Every Tuesday they have 5 songs on their website that you can download for free. Most of them are crap but I've gotten a handful of good songs from there.

A combination of both.
If you want an experience, go to a Jimmy Buffett concert.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Life is short, live long!!

I'd rather be a wiseass than a dumbass.

I do it the easy way-
I go to the store and BUY it.

No complicated electronic proceedures to remember. (I don't have an engineering degree either, so it's off to the store with my checkbook for me). [smilie=graytard.gif]

I downloaded (purchased the MP3 online I should say) 5 CD's yesterday.

I agree with Connie though, if it's a CD I want autographed, I'll go buy it for the whole artwork/book thing.

I don't remember the last time a bought a cd. I download live shows, though, I don't steal them. I'm just too cheap to spend money on a cd. 15 dollars is insane.

If I want the whole album, I'll buy it from the store.

Otherwise, if it's just a single song I want, I'll download it off of iTunes. :)

Sometimes more than others,
we see who and what and where we are,
I'm just a one man band,
With my feet in the sand,
Tonight I just need my guitar

I mostly buy CDs...major label online from Amazon, indie artists at their shows. When I want to cover something, but don't know it well enough from memory, I might buy it from iTunes.

I get a certain number of exchange CDs when I trade with other artists. I've got a large pile of these I'm slowly working my way through.

And, of course, sometimes I just write my own. :)
