I need to save this story so I can just copy and paste it every time the question comes up.

ABQKeet loves Jimmy. He could do the live version of GOD'S OWN DRUNK before he was 5 ... loved to embarrass his grandmother with the language.

He's now 28 and works as a disc jockey for weddings, parties, corporate events and our Feeding Frenzies, so he makes sure to play Bubba's music at gigs.

He's going to love the Fillmore show ... :D :D

Both Jim (17) and Mollie (8 ) have grown up in "that way"...and I wouldn't change a thing. At the moment, and for the last 6+ years, we've lived in a tiny, Bible belt town in NW Tennessee. People here think I strange and I'm okay with that. Anyone who finds out I love Jimmy says "Have you seen that red Durango?"...that's MY red Durango!

They have both been involved with the founding and activities of Last Mango In Paris PHC and I, for one can say, it's taught them a lot about giving back, Partying for a Purpose. They get it!

Jim has done Buffett reports, explanations of songs and read lots of books because Jimmy "recommended" them. Mollie is my hula girl at heart. My kids are great and if I raise them with Buffett in the background, so far, it's only been a blessing!

The first toy placed in my son's crib the day he was born was a Kermit the Frog doll that sang "Caribbean Amphibean." At three years old, he could sing all the words to "Far Side of the World." The first time his parents left him overnight was so they could go to a Buffett concert. He's is more comfortable in a Hawaiian shirt, shorts and no shoes than anything else...even in the winter.

He was the first one to encourage me to close up shop and skip town for Anguilla last March and he was soooooo excited when he found out that I and a certain blonde (and her husband) had actually met Jimmy Buffett. We're out of here next week for nine days in Jamaica and the thing he is the most excited about is visiting Margaritaville in Montego Bay.

Thanks to Jimmy (and one hell of a lucky genetic crap shoot) I was blessed with one cool kid.

Nothing, nada, zero.. :) My son admires what Jimmy has done in music and business, but that's it. He doesn't care for the music.

Where to start? My oldest daughter listened to Buffett in her crib, later in her life, when she was in the Bahamas for senior week, she impressed her friends by knowing the words to Buffett songs played in the Hotels and bars. My oldest son, is a self proclaimed Parrothead, he was listening to Jimmy in utero! My third child, well she doesn't even like Christmas! The two youngest boys are big fans, the 17yr old plays guitar and the first songs he played were Buffett tunes. The 16yr old's mp3 player is filled with Buffett music and a lot of classic rock, making his mom quite proud! No Rap crap here! All but the "grinch" have been to shows. This past September, I saw how much Buffett influenced them, when they threw me a "Pirate Looks at Fifty" party and had the guests dress in their finest piratical attire! Seeing my 80yr old Aunt & Uncle dressed up like pirates was priceless!

That one sounds priceless!!! I love the idea of the whole PHamily!! My Mom is on BN as MangoNana but she usually just lurks. Hubby has no choice...love me, love Buffett. My kids came by it naturally!

Oldest and youngest keets have been to numerous concerts and know most of the songs. Oldest keet is trying to convert some of his friends, youngest in college sometimes thinks it might be a little embarrasing in front of her friends, but deep down knows she loves the concerts. Middle keet claims he doesn't like Buffett music, yet when I had a CD playing recently, he was humming along. Claims that he liked "that" particular song.
So, as another song goes, "two outa three ain't bad"

compared to some of you .... I'm still a keet.

My dad raised me on this music.... I grew up with my dad playing SOASOAS, Volcano, OPH, etc on 45's... now that's the ONLY music on my IPod.

My seven year old son thinks Jimmy is "lame". Maybe I've bombarded him with it too much.
He used to like some of the songs but right now he's more into heavy rock guitars.
But he does associate anything that has to do with islands with Jimmy.

We have never been to a concert (YET) but my boys have been force fed Jimmy music since the '80's. They claim not to like it 'that much' but when it is playing and they dont realise I am listening, they sing along to every song
They take great pleasure calling me from wherever they are in the world, to tell me they have just heard Jimmy on the Radio
My youngest (30) has more Hawaiian shirts than I care to count. The influence has rubbed off

Our "JB-kids" story." is the opposite of everybody else's. We knew and sang "Margaritaville" when it first came out, but that about was it. Then, 13 years later, my son and his friends started talking about this "new" artist who played songs about the beach. It was Jimmy Buffett! So, in a way, my son RE-introduced his parents to the Jimmy Buffett lifestyle! We are all three devoted PH's now, and number one son is an adult--joining us in Vegas last year and as many other concerts as he can make. Even had one of his senior pix taken in beach attire. He proudly displays a "Conch Republic" flag on the wall at his condo!

My five year old asked me other day where Margaritaville is. Just told him wherever he wants it to be. So he says it is St. Maarten and Florida :P Gotta love these kids. Yes, Fins and Volcano are an all time favorite.
We also saw the Continental Drifter III in Sag Harbor over the summer and mentioned his house was also nearby. He wanted to stop by for a visit. Difficult explaining we can't just show up.

My kids have been Parrotheads since the first one was born 21 years ago. When they were little, they would sing along with all the songs and enjoyed the concerts (although a drunk guy stepped on my son's head at Shoreline!) My daughter would sing "why don't we get dwunk and stew" at the top of her voice in our VW. Now, they are amused when they hear Jimmy, and they think I am completely crazy, but they all have him on their iPods.

Once, at a book signing for Joe Merchant at Cody's Books in Berkeley, I brought my kids and three others that were with me, to meet Jimmy. My daughter, who was three, did fins for him, her little hands just barely meeting at the top. Later, at the concert that week, I had tons of people coming up to me, saying "you were the woman with all those kids" at the book signing. My 15 mins of fame!
