Going to Key West for the first time, staying at the Southernmost Hotel. So all you KW veterans, tell me where are all the bars located , streetwise ? Louie's, Green Parrot, Pepe's, Chart Room, Capt. tony's, Schooner Wharf, Hog's Breath, Sloppy Joe's, and any / all other's I need to see.

Conch Republic, Turtle Kraawls and Scooner wharf
are all within rock throwing and I think on Greene
Sloppy Joes,Hogs..and the Red Garter are on Duval.
Fat Tuesdays and Flying monkeys are worth a stop
and on Duval.
you can see Capt'n Tonys from Duval..
HMM Rum Barrel .. I can find it but...

If you can find the zero mile marker...located after the one mile marker then you can find the GPB

Since it is the first and last bar on US 1
Capt Tony's is on Greene St. It is my favorite place to hang out. Except when what some call Fantasy Fest ( I call it amature week ) is going on.
From Capt Tony's step out of the door. Do a right face. Start walking. The first street you hit will be Duval. Take a left. The next street you will hit will be Front. Turn right. Look next to the Ron Jon and you will see Island Dogs. Go in have a few drinks and get some food in the soon to be filled with liquar tummy. When steping out of Island Dogs face left walk a few steps and you are at the Pier House. Walk through their parking lot and around to the back you will find the Chart Room. Don't eat the hot dogs.
After leaving the Chart Room go back the way you came so you are back on Front St. If you are so inclined walk across the street to the Rum Barrel. If it is Sunday and you are a football fan your tour may end here
Otherwise look toward the end of Front St and you will see two big letters. They should be A & B. If you can not see them ask your seeing eye dog for assistance. Walk to those.
Just before you get to where the letters are you will notice a little brick path leading to your right. It is easy to miss. If you are still with me you will be in a tiny little pavalion. You will see a little wine shop first thing. Go in and have a chat with Chris. You may know him from some of the books he has written.
After some fine wine snobbery walk out to the dock. Wont be hard to spot. Its wood and has boats tied to it. Follow the dock around and you will run into the Conch Republic Seafood company. By pass that. But make note of where it is because you will want to eat dinner here later in the week.
Keep walking and you will find the Schooner Wharf Bar. The last piece of old Key West left. Belly up to the bar, chat up some locals, enjoy some of the coldest beer in KW. Who knows, you may even run into Micheal McCloud.
That is enough for now. It is a start anyway. Which on an island my friend is all you need. A start.
Some other places worth checking out for eats and treats.
Pepe's on Caroline
B.O.'s almost across the street from Pepe's
Coco Palms Jamacian Me Hungry on front ( only if you like Spicy Food !!!! )
the last people I sent there were mad because the pepper shrimp was spicy. ( chuckle..silly landlubbers )
If you want a light lunch ( like French Dips and such ) Try Carolynes on Duval. For nice cozy dinner go to The Grand right next to Carolynes on Duval. EAT INSIDE..not outside. Trust me
need any more tips...come find me.

Seems to have missed the Hog's Breath - off Duval between Sloppy's and Pier House, on the left before Wachovia.
Louie's is within 75 yards of where you're staying. Save up.
Stop at the tree bar (opposite Irish Kevin's) Sunday lunchtime, or anytime.

I have to recommend Ricks Tree Bar (opposite Irish Kevin's) for the best bloody mary ever.

Or you could always head to Schooner Wharf around 7:10 am for the meeting of the breakfast club for a Bloody Mary.

I am in full agreement...made with clamato juice and adorned with a pickle...sitting right on Duval enjoying the aromas of Angelina's pizza (which is perfect after a day/night of carousing around Key West....I've fallen 'asleep' with a slice of Angelina's next to my head....

My wife and I stayed at the Southernmost last year and loved it. Louie's Backyard is right around the corner from the Southernmost. Its an easy walk up South Street 2 blocks and make a right on Vernon Ave. Go to the end of the street and Louies is right there on the corner. Great little breakfast place 2 blocks down Duval St. called the Banana Cafe. For lunch, try the Duval Beach Club right across the street from the Soutnernmost. Open air cafe right on the beach. Have a great time! We are going back this April.
Other fav's
Good Bars:
Ricks Cafe
Irish Kevin's
Key Lime Pie:
Kermits - Corner of Greene and Elizabeth - Across from Jimmys recording studio
Restaurants:
Rum Barrel for Yellowtail Snapper
