I hate that word when it is used to refer to Christmas. I know it is supposed to be "politically correct", but people need to get over it. Just cause not all people celebrate, doesn't mean I have to change my ways.
I am a little sensitive about personal choice right now. At work ( I work in a Bank) one customer complained that she had to use a puffer after coming in to get money. Someone's perfume bothered her, so she went to the manager and asked that we become a scent free place. I can see if it was a medical facility, but is she going to go the the grocery store and do the same thing there?
Where does one person who comes in say twice a month get off on telling me what I can and can not due regarding personal hygiene. Next I won't be able to use soap or shampoo or hair spray or lotion or fabric softener or brush my teeth due to the smell of mint!!!
Where does it all end............(thanks for letting me rant)
The word "holidays" isn't always being used to mean Christmas--there are many of us that celebrate other holidays around the same time and we like to be included too. It generally doesn't bother me, and I don't react negatively when people wish me a Merry Christmas, but holiday season is a whole lot more inclusive.

Not in my house before Thanksgiving. The day after is okay to START slowly listening to holiday music. Absolutley NO outside lights and tree until 2 weeks before Christmas. In my house, the Christmas season runs til Jan. 8, Feast of the Three Kings so there's no reason to rush in 6 weeks before. How many start taking their decorations down Christmas nite or the day after already????

I'm with you there. And I'll take them down usually the weekend after Christmas (giving it about a week)

Christmas was okay when I was a kid, but, since I've gotten older, it's just been one huge P.I.T.A.
I do like SOME Christmas music, and get into the spirit of the season somewhat, but, honest to God, the whole friggin world INSISTS on going absolutely crazy at Christmas to the point of making me want to puke my guts out.
But I DO love saying
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
and God Bless us, everyone

If that isn't the truth. I can remember as a kid all of us having a good time, and now that we're older it truly is brutal.
I used to find this quote funny when I was younger, little did I know that the writers of Christmas Vacation go it from our family Christmas.
Clark: Our holidays were always such a mess.
Clark Sr.: Oh, yeah.
Clark: How'd you get through it?
Clark Sr.: I had a lot of help from Jack Daniels.

I was driving in the countryside last month, and had to pass though a village called Corfe Castle, a truly wonderful little place (google it).
The little corner shop was already decorated for Christmas, tree, lights, the works!! Now I know we Brits are supposed to "quirky" but please, let me get over the summer first!
By the way, the weather here is fab!! Still in shorts & T shirts
and it is November 2nd!!!

For the retailers Christmas is nothing but money.
Each individual can make it what they want.
Myself, I love the Christmas season but it doesn't truly start to me until after Thanksgiving. However, what I consider the Holiday Season starts after Halloween.

I'M in shorts & a t-shirt too.
Of course, I'm sitting in my den next to a burning fireplace with about four 11-pound logs on the damn thing.

I personally like hearing Christmas music starting on Thanksgiving day until about Jan. 1st. I see in NYC they are already putting up all the Christmas decorations and I'm not really ready for it, but in a couple of weeks I'll be in the Christmas spirit. I got my tickets for the Brian Setzer Orchestra Christmas Show and can't wait to see them perform.

To early for Christmas music! We always started Christmas the day after Thanksgiving. The stores want it earlier so they can make more profit. It has gotten just too commercial. Besides it was 80 degrees here yesterday.
