what language is this?? I thought it was spanish saying something totally different. guess I should learn the real lyrics.

I think if you can find a link to church of buffett orthodox. There is a link on there with translations to that and any other songs he has that has lyrics lyrics other than english. Hope that helps.

The song begins with lyrics in Tahitian:
Ia ora te natura
E mea arofa teie ao nei
The translation given is "Nature lives (life to nature), Have pity for the Earth, (Love the Earth)"
It concludes with the same verse plus:
Ua pau te maitai no te fenua
Re zai noa ra te ora o te mitie
Translated as: "Bounty of the land is exhausted, But there's still abundance on the sea."

thanks dez. I have been learning the chords, so now have to learn the correct lyrics.
I thought it was a D G A, just like Franklins Tower but its B A E. I watched the preview from Live from Ang, its an easy song to play. once I get the lyrics down Ill be jammin it....

huh. always wondered what those intro lyrics were, just kinda assumed spanish b/c they sound like it. thanks for the work translating...knowing what the lyrics say adds a whole new dimension to the song. even more beautiful....

I always thought the words were Polynesian (i.e. Hawaiian

)
But then I've never actually seen any Tahitian text so I had nothing to compare this to....
