I think Red Stripe is more of a natural sponsor for Jimmy. He has more of a connection to the Caribbean and Red Stripe doesn't need a lime or lemon to make it drinkable. :pirate:
I was doing more "research" on that last week, and I concur.
+1 for Red Stripe! :D :D :D :D

I just picked up some Spanish Peaks Honey Raspberry as one of my birthday treats. Used to be made in Montana (when it was really, really good). Now I think they make it in Maryland.

Funny thing is, while Spanish Peaks was one of the first micros in MT, both Kessler and the stuff they brew in Missoula were and are better. When SP went to their fruity lagers, I bailed.
I had a raspberry flavored beer in Key West during MOTM last year. I don't smoke but after I drank the beer I asked one of my smoker friends for a cigar. I had to get my balls back.

I haven't met anyone who does that. I am guessing they are in the "Jimmy wizzed in a bottle so I'd drink it" stage of their trip down the PHH? :D

My sentiments, EXACTLY.

Pacifico speaks to me, personally

Pacifico is making a big push in the Midwest, couple folks in the PHC were talking about it too. Think you can even find it in the grocery stores.

I can get it at quite a few grocery stores here, which surprised me.

Wow, a raspberry beer getting beaten up on by Ringling and Larry.

Screw you guys. :D It tastes good and I like it.

It's about this time of year that I switch to bourbon, anyway. Is Bookers, Bakers or Woodford Reserve acceptable? :pirate:
I don't want to live on that kind of island
No, I don't want to swim in a roped off sea.

Landshark is driving beer.

Corona not far off but for some reason it tastes better to me and doesn;t make me break out

But I do want the landshark surfboard as well. I do think the novelty is going to wear off and you can only stay afloat for so long.

If I were Jimmy I would have done a lot more taste testing!!!!

of course it is hard to stay afloat on a LS surfboard... that big ol' bite out of the side doesn't help the buoyancy.. :D

you want raspberries and beer, get a Negra Modelo and a pint of berries and consume as individuals.

and it's ok... we understand. Mrs. C&R was having one, and you were just holding it for her? :D

I have to agree Michelle, I love the LandShark, besides I found a beer that my better half will drink. Maybe they would actually sell more if it was available EVERYWHERE!! For the majority here that dont' like it, I see your point I'm still trying to figure out how Jimmy can put his name on that crap called Margaritaville Tequila. I do think he should at least try the product he's pimpin.
just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy...

Adding my two sense, I recently tried Landshark Lager for the first time here in Northern California at the Fillmore show last month. After tasting that swill I'm happy it's not available in the west.

I love 99% of what Jimmy Buffett does but in regards to the alcohol profit center of his empire Landshark Lager and Margaritaville Tequila just s***.

I've always wondered why he did go upscale with the tequila (a la Sammy Haggar & Cabo Wabo), and now the p*** water beer. If he did do a high quality beer and tequila I'm sure Parrotheads would not hesitate to fork over the money for a high quality product.

Have a cold one!

As usual, a lot of great posts. I knew there were other hop heads lurking among us. I have a few other faves I'd like to drop: (Australia's Cooper's Lager and James Boag's Premium Laqer are also very tasty.) I also like Blue Moon which is surprising brewed by Molson/Coors! I am also anxious to try "Full Sail Session Premium Lager" from a small employee owned brewery in Oregon which recently won top prize from a panel of international beer judges, who sampled from hundreds of lagers and ales from the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, Australia and beyond to find the “Best Beers of the World.”

OK, I guess I am just a tried and true hop head/beer snob. I always enjoy sharing thoughts with this great community...we each have different tastes and preferences, so I can't really quibble...I tend to be a purist with German and Irish ancestors when it comes to the juice of the barley. Fins Up! :pirate:

I don't think Landshark is thaaaaat bad. Those types of beers are all so similar that after a few it doesn't matter what you drink.
It's just beer anyway. I've never had a beer that made me cream in my pants

I was drinking Shiner Bock in Tampa and it was pretty good.....I didn't cream though.

Half the fun of microbrews is the fact that often you can only get them in fun places.

Alaskan Amber isn't really anything special, but considering that I've usually had a full day of fishing in Alaska before polishing off a half dozen or so Alaskan Ambers with a huge dinner makes it taste a lot better.

If I am drinking Fat Tire, it's in a 32 oz. bottle at Greasewood Flats in Scottsdale while sitting round a fire pit listening to some "cowboy" style band butcher Jimmy's songs. But in January, it beats the 10 degree nights we're fleeing from in Michigan.

Same thing with true island brews - Kalik, Carib, El Presidente, Belikin. None of them are great beers except that you can only get them in great places.

The liner notes for the Anguilla DVD mention that Anguilla was where the parrothead fantasy met reality.

90% of beer is based on marketing. Landshark and Corona are both just marketing tools for Anheuser Busch to sell "tropical" themed beer to people who seek out a cheap version of escapism. I guess maybe $7.99 for some people to have a momentary connect with a tropical fantasy aint such a bad thing.

I still lobby for Jimmy shilling for Red Stripe! I'd LOVE to be able to get that inside the venues at Jimmy's shows. :D
