"DANCE TO THE LEFT, DANCE TO THE RIGHT"

The "Yellow Album" should come with a warning label-

WARNING- Listening to this music can bring you moments of pure joy, euphoria and a sense of belonging like nothing you've encountered before. Continued listening is known to cause men to wear grass skirts and coco nut bras. Other adverse behavior can include but is not limited to wearing shark and parrot hats, traveling hundreds of miles to meet with strangers in parking lots to consume massive quantities of alcoholic beverages and food while playing games and sharing good times and lots of laughs, wearing Hawaiian shirts through out the winter, and inordinate affinity with flip flops, tequila, rum and an imaginary island paradise known as Margaritaville, spending hours on line "chatting" with others that have become addicted, sending cards to strangers in hospitals offering get well wishes and buying every last pair of flip flops in Walgreen stores in order to ship them to someone that you don't know, but promises to ship them to Iraq to help men and women after they have been wounded serving this Country.

My name is Dan and I'm a Parrot Head. My addiction started with The Yellow Album :D

i only meant, it seemed odd they consider themselves fans...and did not know the name of the song "that cheeseburger song". like r2 said, does that make them bad people, no. like i said, they were very nice.

i dont care what your fav song is. it just annoys me when people say they are jimmy fans and then add...he is that margaritaville guy, right? he sings that cheeseburger song.

i'm sorry i brought the issue up. :D
I appreciate what you are saying. Not that they picked that particular song, it is the fact that it is one of his most heard and they still don't know the name of it.
I personally like the song about the guy with the battery.

I agree with the spirit of Big Randall's post. But not as it pertains only to JB.

I think it's a little obnoxious when someone says "I'm a HUGE fan of __________" but knows nothing about the person. I wish people would say "I'm a HUGE fan of 'Werewolves of London'" instead of saying "I'm a HUGE fan of Warren Zevon".

The problem is in the semantics of the discussion: when a dedicated, well-read fan hears someone else claim to be a huge fan but really doesn't know anything, I think the well-read, dedicated fan will recoil because it is somewhat offensive to them.

That's why I try to say I like a certain song or album instead of saying I love an artist, because in reality I'm not familiar with the artist's entire portfolio (especially compared to my JB knowledge).

I think the meanings inherent in the statements are the problem, not the alleged levels of "fandom" in the discussion.

Well you know what they say, the first step is admitting you have a problem. Good for you.

My name is Garry and my addiction started when I heard that song about running, cunning, islands, highlands, good times, riches, S.O.B.s and reading departure signs in airports.

Hi, I am Jon . . .

and at a frat party in college the Live version of "Get Drunk and Screw" from Feeding Frenzy came on . . . the reaction from a house full of college kids was amazing so I asked my buddy . . . "what is this?" and he laughed . . . called me a loser . . . and walked away. The next morning the CD was in my back pack with a note that read, "Educate yourself and I will take you to Great Woods on Labor Day . . ." :D

And here I am . . .

CILCIA was my first JB song and my first JB album. Eventually I bought the Yellow Album, and I wore it right out....

Yes, I am a Yellow Album fan..... as well as being a fan of just about every JB song out there....

Seemed like the concensus about last year's Irvine show was that it was one of the best shows ever.... and it included EVERY SINGLE yellow album song!   :D :D

My name is Marnin Grita Guy, some of you know me as Barry.

6 years ago I bought the "SYKBH Yellow album" I had heard some of

the songs before because I worked at a radio station, but really knew

little about the man or his music. I went to my first show in 2004 in

Columbia, SC. I enjoyed that so when he was in Columbia again I went

again in 2005. I signed up to get advance tickets and in 2006 got floor

dead center 20 rows back. Thats when I met the first person from BN

live, PHnSC.

2006 also took me to Atlanta and Tampa where I met many more BN'rs.

This year I have been fortunate enough to see Jimmy in Orlando where I

got his autograph, Took my first trip across the "Big Muddy" to Houston

for a show with a great group of Texan fans, Did Atlanta at an indoor

venue, Did Cincinnatti with the help of Auntie, (and an illegal u-turn on

the interstate going to reprint my ticket) Finally finished up with two shows

in Tampa.

I just got a raise so who knows what will happen next year!

I love you all each and everyone whom i have met or will meet in the

future. Phriends here have saved me from total despair and I feel blessed

to have your distant but warm company.
