When I saw the 8-track in a Peaches Record & Tapes (anyone remember those?), I picked it up even though I had never heard of this Jimmy Buffett guy. Within the next month I picked up Havana Daydreamin', A White Sport Coat and a Pink Crustacean, and Living and Dying in 3/4 Time ..... also as 8-tracks.
Two decades later Jimmy autographed that original 8-track for me at a
concert.

Peaches . . . I remember, I went to the opening for the one in Virginia Beach/Norfolk (can't remember where it was) Anyway I won 2 8th row tickets for the Jackson Browne concert at William and Mary (or Hampton Roads, don't remember that either) Anyway, the mention of Peaches record store reminded me of that!!!

I bet it was the one on Military Highway in Norfolk, near Military Circle Mall and Virginia Beach Blvd.
Do you remember those wooden "peach crates" sized to hold 8-track tapes and another size to hold 12" albums?

I have one for vinyl. It's from the now defunct Peaches in Atlanta.

Exactly . . . wow that's a blast from the past. I have lots of vinyl from Peaches. Actually the better ones are framed and on display in our media room! Everyone loves them. We used to live on Little Creek Road. I used to work in downtown Norfolk, used to have to be escorted out of the building at night if I left after 5 pm. We re-visited about 5 years ago and downtown had improved tremendously. As always, love Virginia Beach. But that was "before I knew what cash flow meant."

Hey everyone my name is Dave and this is my very first post!!
I became a PH at a very early age, I lived in OH out by Buckeye Lake Music center (now its basically a horse pasture) my mother used to go to Jimmy's concerts there but I was to young.

So I would sit on our back porch and I could hear every word, feel the music, and before I understood what was happening to me, I was singing CIP in my middle school talent show! Now I go to a concert every year and I try to get as many of my friends into phans as possible (I've converted my Fiancee). I may not know every song but I'm learning about as many as I can, this year in May I drove from Columbus OH (where I live now) all the way to KW and on my way home fell in love with Tin Cup Chalise

!!!
So I am very proud to say.....My name is Dave and I am a Parrothead!!!

This discussion reminds me of the old Buffett bulletin board about 10 years ago when there were the GOPs (Grumpy Old Parrotheads) who thought Buffett hadn't written a good song since 1984 and the others who thought the new stuff was the best. There were some really good heated discussions.
For me, as long the song didn't come from Hot Water, it's a good song.
