Danny takes a leave of absence
Bad news for the European fans and for the E Street Band: keyboardist Danny Federici will not be joining the tour overseas as he will be taking a leave of absence from the band. The temporary departure will allow Danny time to undergo treatment for melanoma, which is unfortunately a rather serious form of skin cancer. However, if everything goes well, he will be rejoining the tour further down the road. In a statement Bruce says, "Danny is one of the pillars of our sound and has played beside me as a great friend for more than 40 years. We all eagerly await his healthy and speedy return." He will be temporarily replaced by Charles Giordano, who played accordion with the Sessions Band. Not a bad substitution if there must be one.
Thank God the Tiki Bar is Open!

There is a wonderful video clip at http://brucespringsteen.net/news/index.html of the ending band's recent concert in Boston - Bruce and all giving lots of support and affection to Danny. I saw the show in early November and it was terrific. My very best phinpower to Danny.
