anyone see this movie or read the book?

I saw the movie yesterday and I don't think that I have been floored by a film in years, if not ever, as this master piece.

Wow. Would love to discuss it if any of you have had the pleasure . . . it just sticks with you . . . Tommy Lee Jones' speech was amazing and each actor's performance is simply incredible.

Love to hear your thoughts . . .

Haven't seen it, yet. But plan to do so soon. I love McCarthy, but haven't read this book either. I usually like to read books first, but in this case I don't want it to spoil the movie. It's not often I'll say that. But with the Coen brothers I want to be completely suprised and not sit there and compare it the whole time.

The film is getting solid reviews from almost every critic in the country.

maybe in a year it might be. or 10. right now, it's just people voting because they just saw it; if IMDB existed in 1939, Citizen Kane might have a few more.

everything is an argument . . . whatever; fine . . . Citizen Kane is great. Start a thread about it.

the point is that a movie that has been out for 3-4 weeks hasn't got enough "road mileage" make a claim like "the 19th best movie on IMDB".

this is in fact one of the few times I enjoyed the movie more than the book. The way the Coen brothers portray Cormac's work is just outstanding.

Actually it is now #23.

and over 11,000 took the time to vote. In time it might drop to 30 or lower . . . or it might rise to 10 or higher. I don't know. I know 11,000 + voted it so high that it is number 23 . . .

Of all the movies that came out in the last year or more that is the only one who can make the claim of being that highly rated. That does count for something.

Anxious to see it, looks really good.

The debate about "best ever" reminds me of a poll that CKLW did in the mid-seventies to name the Number One Song Of All Time.
The winner -- Kung Fu Fighting.

I'll bet two weeks later a lot of those people would have liked their vote back. :D

probably so. Granted, "No Country for Old Men" has Tommy Lee Jones going for it while the song only has David Carradine. :D

So what you're saying is if this movie was a ballplayer it would be Jason Varitek.

I could honestly write a book about this movie . . . as perfect as a drame/ western can be . . . and no Hollywood ending! A real ending. Honest to the viewer . . .

anyone notice that there is not one note of music in the whole movie? there is no musical score. the only piece of music is that few second clip of the mariachi band. its so cool you dont even really notice or need a score.

loved the movie though!
