I'm the one who drives her when she can't get there on the bus. I am her full time parent.

Do I have a social life? Sometimes but my daughter is the priority right now. Once she hits 18 and moves out, then things will change and I can have more of a social life. Until then I have to defer on somethings because those things may interfere with my raising my daughter.
You got my respect, and I bet your daughters too!!!

Well, shortly after I started this thread, I noticed Moliie wasn't acting like herself. Her asthma had began to bother her and she was coughing. By Monday night we were at the ER. They treated her with an antibiotic and sent her home with "chest congestion/ bronchitis". Tuesday she was no better and even her doctor who has been seeing her for 6+ years said she looked "fine". Well, her oxygen was VERY LOW and she had pnuemonia. Now, I KNOW lots of parents "know" their children and do not spend as much time together as I do with mine but I was glad I was familiar enough to notice when she was was in trouble. Looking at her, her color was a little pale but not as critical as it should have been , given her stats. She would have been in crisis had I not acted when I knew something wasn't right.

Again, yeah, I am very close to both my kids. And this time, I was glad I was there and spending lots of time with her. Otherwise, she could have gotten MUCH worse and never looked or sounded sick.

I know everyone parents differently. I am interested in hearing what works for you. Most people are great parents and I would like to know what you do. Keep um' coming...

I have no kids...but seeing the way I hover over my cats I'm very sure I would have been a "helicopter parent"
